Default 1900 Old Buncombe Road, Greenville, SC 29609-4368

Family Dollar has two stores nearby each other: store 130 (1900 Old Buncombe Road Suite 1, Greenville, SC 29609-4368) and store 8954 (1605 West Blue Ridge Drive, Greenville, SC 29611-2909). Store 8954 is newer and in a better location. With Family Dollar closing stores, I can see store 130 closing.

The immediate area is both food and pharmacy deserts. I seriously doubt Big Lots, a closeout store, fulfills those needs. They closed a store on Farr's Bridge Road in Berea not too long ago.

I know many would like to see the likes of Bi-Lo, Ingle's and Publix open. Bi-Lo closed store 544 in 2004 with reason. They have not added new stores in the area. I do not expect them to. Ingle's Markets could use a store closer to downtown, but their stores are larger. Publix would be a great addition with a store similar to store 1148 (McBee Station). I hope a renewal project that has decimated the area does not deter them.

The new Golden Chick has reportedly opened on Pelham Rd. near Publix. I will try to check it out this week. Nice to have another chicken choice, although I still want a Popeyes.

So.. Golden Chick.. Pretty good. A little pricey in comparison to.. I guess Bojangles or KFC would be their main competition.. But, I had the fried catfish and fried Okra. The yeast roll was outstanding. Looks like they have an all-you-can-eat soft serve ice cream cones for dine in.

Big glass of tea that was pretty close to perfect.. Too often, fast food goes too far in one direction or another on sweet tea (too sweet or not sweet enough).

Both fried and roasted chicken.. Decent selection of salads and sides..

I wouldn't drive 40 miles out of my way to get it, but.. I can see that making my normal lunch rotation.
