Just noticed the other day Red Bowl Asian Bistro had opened off Pelham in the old Applebee's building next to California Dreaming. Not sure when that happened.
The new Panera on Pelham looks like it's a converted Ruby Tuesday building. They sure didn't make many drastic changes to the exterior.

Dined at Tuk Tuk, Thai and Vietnamese restaurant this evening. It's located where El Patron Mexican used to be on E. North Ext / Brushy Creek Rd. across from the Baptist church. While I'm not a huge fan of either cuisine, I did truly enjoy the Pad Woonsen. Nicely blended flavors and good presentation. Service was a solid 8/10 experience, but still feels a lbit like they are still getting their feet under them. Nothing wrong there that floor time won't cure. We will definitely try it again.
We also had breakfast at Sonny's cafe this weekend. A neat little Mom an Pop eatery that does breakfast and lunch. plus they smoke their own Que. We visited the first Saturday they opened and you could sense the fear from the guy cooking. He wasn't even sure what he was charging for what. We ranked him as a potential "soon to fail venture". We did, however, enjoy a tasty meal from what was a three or 4 item black board breakfast menu. He's managed to hang on and this visit was far more impressive. Good crowd, and the blackboard has a much wider range of breakfast and lunch items. The owner has gained a boat load more confidence and seems to actually have fun interacting with customers. We're freshly confirmed repeat customers now and we're rooting for his future success. Sonny's is located on the Greer end of Brushy Creek, across from the old peach packing shed, /Church.
Neither place rates as 5 star hoity toity....but on the "hard working Mom an Pop scale", but both are certainly worthy of a visit.
Not only is the Greer Popeye's open, but it's causing traffic headaches, and they literally ran out food. 'If you build it, they will come.' I haven't had fried chicken in many years, but I might have to give it a try after the excitement dies down.
