I'm not sure about the rules on this site about posting links so I won't but all you need to do is search "relocating to Europe" or any specific country on google and you will get a large amount of websites with lots good information about making the transition.

Actually Northern VA/DC pays more than Hampton Roads across the board. Problem is that cost-of-living is murder and its a whole different country than Hampton Roads (and i sincerely mean that. )

Actually I'm not sure the cost of living is that far off from ours, even though the pay is much higher. The commutes are terrible, though.

I do miss Hampton Roads sometimes myself in the same way that some of the others earlier in this thread mentioned (you don't know what you got till it's gone). I moved to El Dorado Hills, CA and after being here for a few years I am really starting to love it. Beautiful sun, lots of outdoor activities, mountains are in my backyard, Lake Tahoe is an hour away, San Francisco is 2 hours away, etc, etc...

I miss Hampton Roads mainly because I have some family out there and maybe one day I'll move back, but I really love the California sun and I have met so many cool people here that I can truly say I'm torn between both areas.

My friends moved back here after 8 years in Cali. They were born and raised here. When they got back, it's like... wow ghetto.

I live in Town center in VA Beach, and all today from 6:30 am on all I hear is jet noise and got maybe 4 hours of sleep (and that makes me EVIL!). That in itself reminds me why I still want to move from here.... NOW! Any suggestions of a good place to move?
