I'm not surprised Cruz won. It was amazing that Beto was so close, and as some guys said on Reddit, he'll have a good future in politics.

Sad to see Judge Emmett become a victim of the Hate Party. He was a terrific, hard-working politician, who embodied the best of an elected official. But the massive number of Harris County voters who are fed up with Hate, and voted straight Dem, was too much to overcome. So instead we have a 27 year old political novice taking the helm of one of the largest counties in the nation. I have no idea if she is up to the challenge, but wish her well.

And this is the end of any national aspirations Cruz might have had. He went from a 16 point victory in his first election, to barely squeaking by in this one. Bottom line: After six years, one million less people voted for him.

Nationally, he's dead.

Fed up with Hate? You're funny.

Sure,
he's a victim of liberal hate and his loss has nothing to do with trying to screw over the county

Houston voters reject a plan to save Astrodome - Nov. 2013
https://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...ished/3452349/

After Texas voters on Tuesday rejected a referendum that would have authorized up to $217 million in bonds to turn the Astrodome into a giant convention and event center, the stadium is likely to be demolished.
"We can't allow the once-proud Astrodome to sit like a rusting ship in the middle of a parking lot. This was the best effort (to revamp the stadium), and voters have turned it down," Harris County Judge Ed Emmett said. Fifty-three percent voted against the referendum.
Emmett said a final decision on what happens to the Astrodome will be up to the commissioners court, the group of local officials who manage the county. But he said the stadium's future was pretty much sealed with the referendum's failure. He said a decision would have to be made quickly but didn't say exactly when that would happen.

$105 million Astrodome makeover approved by county commissioners - Feb. 2018
https://www.khou.com/article/news/lo.../285-518047861

The Astrodome is making a comeback and could be open for business again by 2020 after Harris County Commissioners unanimously approved a $105 million revitalization plan on Tuesday.
Emmett says the cost will be split evenly, with $35 million contributed from hotel occupancy taxes, parking revenue, and property tax revenue.
The county judge also says tearing the Dome down would also cost taxpayers $35 million, and maintaining the required upkeep on the paid-off, county-owned building currently costs $171,000 per year.

Best aspect of the election right there. Maybe now West Houston will get some real transportation solutions. We shall see.

I wish Lina all the best but that is a huge undertaking. She's a Stanford grad and well spoken, good luck.

She is in favor of mass transit, lets get these rails out to the suburbs.

Our company has grown substantially since 2016, most of it is a result of the cutting back on regulations which were formerly imposed on small businesses. Tax cuts helped us become more competitive which allowed us to hire better qualified employees. It's nice to have good talent working with you and to be allowed to retain them with healthy bonuses and pay raises. If you oppose job creating policies, you are the type of personality that would rather passively benefit off of others fortunes in lieu of manifesting your own destiny. Some call it socialism, I call it government sanctioned theft to a certain capacity.
But that's okay, when the economic waters begin to drown people with good work ethics, we always move and adjust to were we can breathe again. It's called being self-reliant. Stop watching TV. Read books, learn history...stop being "programmed".

All the oil services companies have work thanks to regulations
Without regulations, instead of high quality American made products being used in the oil industry, they would use chinese crap
