Two new things.

We live in LDS country so we always get yearly visits from the Missionaries trying to sanctify us. Well new this year...females...sister missionaries. They looked properly LDS and talked right so I think we now will have both genders...an improvement except when I want to get a little yard clean up done.

Got a call from a breathless Indian "Tom, from the Operating System Division at Microsoft"...I responded "Oh really?" A few second pause and he hung up. Very low entertainment value if they quit that easy...

The Mormons were some of the first settlers in the Valley. Their Temple over on the east side, end of Bonanza, is a beautiful thing to see. Females have been missionaries for a long time. It's just that they are getting more prevalent now. Families save their entire lives to finance their 19 year olds into missionary service where they go out, not salvationing but recruiting for future Mormons is the name of the game. College is not a financial priority plus, BYU in Provo provides a low cost education. Our neighboring state of Utah is their major stomping grounds. Most of the homes in that state have at least 6 bedrooms.

On the homefront, just off Cheyanne on a cul de sac in four huge homes, live the Cody Brown polygamy family. They are not Mormon although many think this is an LDS thing. Any one who watches "Sister Wives" will be familiar with them. They moved here and custom built the new homes to avoid persecution when they were living in Leheigh, Utah.

Actually spent six months trying to buy the fifth, and the original, house in that cul-de-sac. There not really custom...semi at best. More large than unique. I still have not figured out whether the fifth house is involved with the sister wifes or just a poor soul who blew a lot of money on the wrong house.

Hello Julie,

yes it is great here in Vegas and the hiking and outdoors is amazing. As for the taxi driver..most are idiots and crooks that long haul and give you poor advice. You can feed anyone you like...however the beggers are the biggest problem in Vegas as you can probably not go to any store or stop at any stop light without someone asking you for money for food.

as for your marital problems. Filing any charges in Clark County when you are a citizen of another country will get you nothing here. Metro police are about as helpful as the taxi drivers...maybe less because at least taxi drivers get you somewhere. Metro will take your report and stick in a pile to soon be filed and forgotten.

I'm sorry to hear about this guy conning you like that. I don't even think your marriage would be legal because he was already married. Something you can easily find online. For him to engage in such behavior I would easily guess he's done this many more times...it's not something the ordinary man would even consider. He may have many wives so calling the FBI and at the least providing his name and the fact that he may have many wives would also be helpful. You should also be able to access Clark County website here in Vegas and see if the idiot did apply for many marital licenses.

Good luck with everything ....and hope you can come back and enjoy our beautiful city again.
