When I was in Yuma last week, I ate at the Golden Corral Buffet, and I enjoyed it, but the next night I ate at the Home Garden Buffet (a chain) and it was even better, not one item I tasted wasn't good! I ate at a Golden Corral in Lake Havasu, a couple years ago, and I raved about it for weeks afterwards. But, even with McDonald's, there's inconsistencies!

Halloween has always been a hard one to calculate. Last year, I had lots of kids stopping by between 6p-7p and this year, no one! Around 7:15pm a few came by, and figuring it was going to be a slow night, I handed out 3 candy bars each, and then? A tidal wave came by recently, (one group of 15) and I trimmed it down to 2 candy bars each, and now I've all but run out!

But I have a jar of quarters, so if this continues later, they'll be getting quarters! And then I'll hand out dimes from my dime jars!

Whew! Non stop wave of kids. I also gave out candy bars and I think the word must have spread.

One weird thing that I noticed was a lot of people driving instead of walking. A couple of people would just park in the cul de sac, unleash their kids, then after about 15 minutes the kids got back in the vehicle. Off to the next neighborhood.

I guess one can cover more ground this way.

This was my first time handing out candy. In the past, we have gone out. Neighbor said it doesn't get too busy and they take their kids to another sub. Ok, so I bought 4 big bags of candy. Started coming at about 5:30. Ran out of candy at about 7 (I was giving a bunch in the beginning as I didn't want to have any leftovers!). They continued to keep coming...last one that rang my bell was at 8:45! I felt so bad saying that I ran out. The only reason the light was on was that we were taking the garbage out and thought it was over!

Next year, I will be better prepared! I guess in MI, it is too cold to go for long!

Is there a set time for T or T? Here it is like 6 to 8 or something. I didn't hand out candy, but I didn't hide in a dark house, either. I just went about my usual business. I didnt really miss it because Des Moines has a STUPID tradition where the kids don't say "trick or treat" but tell you a really bad Halloween joke instead. It takes them forever to spit it out, it's never funny, and they get upset if you dont laugh like crazy LOL I'd prefer a "trick or treat" and go.

Some communities might have a curfew, they do in some cities in MI, but apparently there wasn't one in mine! Funny thing, at about 5:30 pm, we had two groups. Couldn't believe the neighbors weren't home because they deck their house out. Eventually they showed up and said that they go to the gated communities to trick or treat and that was where everyone else was. He said it was jammed there. So...I am assuming after everyone got their goodies at the more "exclusive" areas, they come back to the "slums" to beg. But, by the time the neighbor brought his son over, I was out of candy. Oopsie.

This is the first year of my adult life that I utterly opted out of Halloween. My house is usually a tradition around here with the scary decor, myself dressed up as some scary creature, and scary music. I just didn't have it in me this year so I left the lights off. I bought a small bag of candy just in case I got a stray trick or treater. I guess I'll have to eat the candy myself.

Trick or Treating usually starts around six and winds down by 9:00 or 9:30. The littlest ones are usually out the earliest.
Elle, I'm glad we don't share your tradition of telling bad jokes. I usually get "trick or treat" or just a terrified stare.
(The sadistic parents love seeing their kids get scared. LOL)

One dad last year of a boy of about 8 years of age said " We come to this house every year and at first he wont go up the walkway, but then he wants to come back three times."
