I just finished my first week at Hilton Grand Vacations which was training....Monday I go on the phones....I'm really going to have to practice my rebuttals because we went on the phones for an hour yesterday and I totalled effed it all up. I got some nasty customers who threw me some serious curveballs and I got so scared I froze up and there was a lot of dead air on most of my calls, so while all my coworkers in training we putting up 1 deal each I got none

Perhaps I need more confidence in myself than just knowing my rebuttals, I bet if I was more confident I wont freeze up and my mind wont go blank on the phone

Idk, if I'm good at it I can make some money. Otherwise, Im on 90 days probation, so perhaps I have 90 days to find a new job before they fire me for not making any sales. I should have learned my lesson from National Business Supply but apparently I didnt

At least Hilton will try to train me and coach me so I can make at LEAST some sales. I'll be amazed if I get one sale a week, which in commission will be next to nothing. Most salespeople at Hilton get about 6-10 a week. Hey Aqua, how long did you last at Hilton?

Just imagine if you got me on the phone, not only would you freeze up, but you might start crying.
Hey, you should have went to the Cosmopolitan interview. I think you would have had a better shot. But why listen to us?

Pink you're probably right, but the Cosmopolitan wouldn't hire me, none of the casinos will anywhere I'm just not good looking enough, nor am I qualified for any position anywhere except minimum wage jobs

I probably would start crying too, that is inevitable because I'm very sensitive about what people say to me, I don't care anymore I expect to be treated like dirt now after 21 yrs of it happening.

Default Hello from Rio De Janeiro!

Hey, everybody! Just stopping by to say Hi from Rio. It has been a fun, fabulous five weeks, but I think it is time to come home. We still have a couple of days left before we return home to Vegas, but I can honestly say that I need a vacation from my vacation! I am worn out and ready to relax.

We have gone from 90 degree weather in Mexico, to 30 degree weather in Ushuaia, Argentina (the southernmost city in the world) and then back to 90+ degree heat and humidity in Brazil, and I am ready for some normal weather. The most interesting weather was the 35 ft waves and 70mph winds as we sailed around Cape Horn. I can not imagine how 16th - 19th century sailors did that trip on much smaller ships!

It has been a very fascinating trip and I have learned a great deal about the history of South America (specifically, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil). I have also made some new friends down here and hopefully will be visiting them again.

I have not had time to read the board yet, but will try to catch up quickly once I return home. I hope everyone has been well. Take care and I will talk to you all next week.

I can't take it anymore. First you are all excited to move here, so you do. Then you get a job at Vons, which turns out to be temporary. You apply at the M, but do not show up for your interview. You stay with Vons. You then apply at Kmart and get even less hours.
Then you eagerly wait to turn 21 so you can get better work in the casino's. Your birthday came and went. You end up at a telemarketing job that relies solely on commission. You did apply at Cosmopolitan, but you decide for yourself that you don't fit the criteria, so you take the telemarketing job. The new telemarketing job is stressful during training and it will only get more stressful as time goes on. They expect you to make so many sales a week, and if you don't, you are again out of a job.
You could have had a good start at the M or Cosmopolitan, but you did want you wanted to do, not what you should have done for steady work that would not only pay the rent, bills, car payments, etc, but would have allowed you to have a life as well, like going out to dinner, movies, concerts, shows, buying clothes, etc.
We have all seen your photo, and you are not an ugly kid. You have a nice smile, and that can go a long way in this world. It's all about choices, make the right one's and you will go far in life. Make the wrong one's, and you will end up being a 45 year old always living with someone. But you are young, so you will make many mistakes in life before you get to that age, and you can turn it around in time. Go to college, get a degree, get farther in life. Otherwise you will always have to settle for menial jobs and be unhappy.

Although I hadn't said anything about this for awhile, I thought I would one last time. You are up, then down, then up, then down, then down, then down, then up again, then down, etc. And the beat goes on.

This is a tough economy for sales jobs. So many people are just trying to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table.

Madman, have they cleaned up the slums and gangs in Rio?

So what is wrong with starting with minimum wage? Gets you in the door and opens others down the road! I have seen many people who I do not think are good looking working at various positions in the casinos. All of them. All a matter of opinion there. I am sure pool guys are the typical "hot" and "buff" type, but there are other positions there. Got to be better than a sales commission stress job.

Good luck, Davie!

Davie, for your own sanity and that of the chat room. Could you please talk to a friend privately about your affairs and the affairs of others?

You're spending a lot of the good will people have towards you. I'm sure you're under a tremendous amount of stress, but a voice of reason will find you sooner or later. I really hope its sooner because the window of time between being a precocious, young 20 year old and a washed up 30 year old is really small.
