Right now America lets in a little over one million LEGAL IMMIGRANTS to our country every year. We need more, according to the Senate Bill that the House of Representatives has not voted on. The Senate Immigration Bill will basically triple Legal Immigration quotas.
Most people don't seem to care about legal immigration, because it is legal.
What do you think, should America double or triple legal immigration in the near future?
Would greatly increasing legal immigration limit illegal immigration? Would it cause our country to boom?
Because it is legal, it's good isn't it? How about raising it even more, maybe up to five million or even more every year? Your thoughts on increasing LEGAL IMMIGRATION numbers.
No need to increase number of work visas, but more green cards are indeed needed. Right now someone born in India is looking at an 11 years wait to get a green card if he is sponsored today. They keep adding all these H1Bs without proper backlog relief, which basically stops careers, creates problems like dependents getting to adulthood without much chance of staying, among other issues.
Of course tech companies just want the H1B increases, because if the backlog is huge the employee can't leave or get promoted. Shame circle that has to stop. The senate bill granted an exception to STEM advanced degree graduates from US universities, that was a great way to start. Another option would be to remove dependents from the employment visa quota.
Increasing legal immigration should raise revenues and decrease illegal immigration . To say there is no reason is simply ignorant or inflexible
So in California where there is nearly 10 million legal immigrants and growing, there is little illegal immigration and no budget crisis at the state and local level?

Absolutely not! We have 23 million unemployed Americans, water shortages in the west, healthcare facilities swamped, overcrowded schools, jails and hospitals, etc. We don't need more people in this country.

I agree. We should be reducing immigration, not increasing it.
I cant see the point in bringing in more immigrants with so many unemployed Americans already here.
Pretty much every study promoted by the media says that bringing in immigrants into a community has a positive impact on the local job market for both the immigrants and native born. Do you believe it?
