Like the Russian Collusion Hoax?

How about the groundless belief, still clung to by a few lonely vaxxers, that the vaccine stops infection and spread?

Some insider information on judges in NY - they are mostly political creatures, and these days, since the money is pretty good, you have legions of them that have been in government service their entire lives with no exposure to the private sector. 10-20 years ago, this wasn't the case. Lawyers would work a regular job, make their money, and then get into being a judge for the prestige. Now you have people that came out of law school, worked as an ADA/Legal Aid/County Attorney's office, kissed some butt in politics, got a cushy law secretary job (a state judge's chief clerk), and then, after further butt kissing, get on the ballot for the next election.

Your "qualifications" for that depend on what county you're in. If one party dominates a county (e.g., Democrats in the city, Republicans upstate), getting on the ballot is the actual "election", since you're guaranteed to win. Thus, our judges are either people who kicked up enough money, did enough favors (such as running as a sure-loser candidate in a county or election year that is expected to go the other way), or checked enough diversity boxes.

Appellate courts aren't any better. Those judges are regular elected state judges who are then appointed by the governor to serve as an appellate judge. With nearly two decades of Democratic rule in this state, appellate judges are virtually all Democrats at this point, and many of them are there because they checked the right box, as opposed to being actually skilled at their jobs.

Now, all of this isn't particularly important, since as we see with SCOTUS, the majority of judges will decide important issues in a purely partisan fashion anyway, with their "skills" simply employed to write more Talmudic decisions justifying what they wanted to begin with. But here in NY, we can't expect Democrat party operative judges to save us from policies that the Democratic party is pushing. Siding against the governor is a sure way to sink your political future.
In Nassau County (where this originated), there is an election in name only. The parties have agreed to split the candidate pool between them, and cross-endorse judges to run on every party line. Selected, not Elected.

Exactly! We are just missing baby daddy reveals in this forum!

No masks for school sports (or recreational youth programs)... no masks for classes in the schools... if that is your biggest concern, there are plenty of options outside NY.

But, let's be real... the complaints are well beyond just masks... if it wasn't that it would be anything from civil servant pay/benefits to airplane noise... on and on and on... the fact that they put up with it all and just complain, complain, complain is what is so funny.

and each post is worded like it a revelation or something... that they learned something new... "wait, you can get the virus if you're vaxxed! Here is the proof"... that has dawned suddenly in post after post each time like they are learning it all over again... comedy!

That really depends on the election year. The parties have gone their separate ways in the past when they think they'll dominate - 2008/2012 come to mind, since Obama carried the Democrats. If the GOP thought they were going to do as well as they did in 2021, they probably wouldn't have agreed to cross-endorse.

What's more troubling is that with one party controlling all Appellate courts in the state, the lower courts don't matter as much. Convicted criminals are set free, juries who see through some scamming personal injury claims get overturned, activist lower court judges get to re-try cases until they get the verdict they want, etc.

Back to the thread topic, it appears Big Pharma will be out with an Omicron-specific vax in a few months.

At that point even the most ardent vaxxers will most likely throw in the towel regarding vax mandates and a 4th (double shot plus booster plus a new Omicron shot) shot. The word is out regarding these vaxxes and infection/spread so the faux Covid vax argument (save grandpa even if you’re not at risk) is firmly in the dustbin. Plus, of course, Omicron natural immunity will be obvious (to some) and Omicron may no longer be the dominant variant in any case.
