Oh man, haven't had "U-bet" in awhile... my parents had one sitting in their fridge for literally years. We threw it out when they moved, but I definitely should have taken it... my Australian husband was like, "What the hell is this." I was horrified.

Go buy some! Pathmark has it. I'm sure other supermarkets like Waldbaums, King Kullen, etc., do too.
So I just read your post....and you might just be the person to answer this question. You mentioned the old General Store that was replaced by the A&P. On the opposite corner....the SW corner of 25a and Bread & Cheese Hollow...there used to be a bar/clambar "Shack" type place. It's now an empty lot.....but I can't seem to find anyone who can remember the name of this place...just that it was once there. Do you remember this?
I don't recall anything being on that corner....ever....,however, I could be wrong. Longshot here.....you're not thinking of the famed and long established "the shack" in Centerport ? That corner has been empty for at least 40 years so maybe I'm not "that old"
OMG Marydale!! Didnt think it ever exisited, not one word about it on the internet but this! I can still remember what that bug juice & cookie taste like...lol. I went for 7 years!! I usually had a counselor named Paula too...she was from Plainview & I from Jericho so we took the same bus home. I used to love to hang with Father Paul....he would run around the camp with me on his shoulders. Had my first smores at the bonfire pit! COuldnt wait to cool off in the pool...finally made it to "no cap" before I left...And those earwigs, gave me nightmares...hahaaa...
