Yes, my sister and her husband do it. They've got one kid and another on the way. It's all about budgeting properly and not overspending on stuff you don't need. They live in a nice part of Hicksville behind Sears.

Do they own or rent?

If they own, when did they buy their home? Pre-bubble? It had to be because there is no way (short of a HUGE downpayment) a family making a total of around $90K could afford to buy a house post-bubble.

I am proud to be a teacher in the East Williston School District...recently EXCESSED from a previous school district thanks to them not being able to manage their budget properly. I can tell you that I earned this job on my own without any "connections", and I am very much proud of this. Though I am not one of the teachers making 90K, it is certainly not easy to even plan for a future and a family in this market given the times...and to make matters worse, being able to afford to live on Long Island!

Also, I don't know who or why it was said, but we do NOT and did NOT get 5 snow days.

Snow days are contractually made up.

CRV1010 lives in a poor section of a great school district... the people who should be complaining are those who shelter 10x times their property tax so that CRV1010 can send their kids to Wheatley.

If you live in East Williston and make 100k a year, paying 20k in school taxes is a drop in the bucket? How do you figure that grant516 ?
