My gut feeling is nothing will happen ahead of the election. Sadly, this virus and the way it's been handled has been highly politicized, which is why I think any action won't begin to happen until after Nov 3. At that point, it's a question of which state/large metro scales back heavily to an earlier lockdown phase.

Europe is already starting to phase in some lockdowns. Not making the press it did back in Feb/Mar, but looks like they rolling it out.

Was there really ever much of a lockdown? I mean they closed schools, libraries, sports, restaurants - but take out was still available. All other stores were open and you could get ubers, trains, alcohol, groceries, take out anytime you wanted.

Seeing the numbers climb daily has me worried, like most people. Would a full lockdown help? It could help to lower the quantity of spreading, sure....

But I also do not own a salon, restaurant, etc.... Which would cripple those folks (again) after all the work they did to get the place up and running again.

I dont know what the right answer is. I just do as much as I can (wear a mask, wash hands, etc... avoid people).

Stay safe folks.

Lockdown is not really the right word to use for what happened here in MA and other states. More of a non-essential business shut-down and stay-at-home "advisory". Even that got skirted by people taking advantage of the gray area and designating their employees as "essential".

People were free to move around, but there was noplace to go, and everyone was still in a state of shock over what was happening, so for the most part they stayed home.

Do that today, and I don't think people would behave the same way. They are comfortable. It's been 8 months of Covid and the world is not coming to an end. Party on.

My gut feeling is that there won't be industry-specific "shutdowns" without financial bailouts for those industries. And I am not holding my breath for those.

Anyone calling for a complete shutdown does so from a position of great economic privilege.

I'm guessing rinks did not get a bailout. Nor did parents who paid for their kids to be on a team.

My kids league and travel teams have been billing in installments, rather than one lump sum. Everyone went in knowing the season very well might be cut short. I think they handled it fairly given the circumstances. I am not banking on the rinks being back open in 2 weeks.

neither am i. I am not sure if money will be given back or not...I am also not sure whether it's paid in one lump sum.

Over 1000 more cases today. Very annoying. It's the older people and partiers messing it up for the little ones who have to sit in the house now.
