polyamory is the practice of engaging in multiple sexual relationships with the consent of all the people involved.
The motive for Somerville passing this measure was basically so that polyamorous "partnerships" would be officially recognized. Where the state doesn't qualify that arrangement as a marriage or grant any legal status to, the city for all intents and purposes is treating a "partnership" as a marriage. These lines are really very blurred, and it's all the same concept nevertheless.

IDK man there's a lot of weirdos out there. I'm generally a live and let live kind of person and could care less if you want to have 7 wives or marry your cousin (or whatever), but it's the kids who pay the price in these situations. That is not OK with me, and shouldn't be for any normal civilized society. And yes I understand there's millions of kids raised by single mothers. That's tragic as well, and we should imo be trying much harder not to reward that.

The good news is if you stick with common sense values of going to college before getting married, getting a practical major, getting married before having kids, and staying married, you will do very well in this f'ed up society of ours.

It's almost like having a cheatsheet. Shhh.... Don't tell the leftists and the guys playing on hard mode.

The irony is that these new Somerville polyamory laws actually set back women's rights by a couple thousand years. They are not progressive at all, but Old Testament Biblical. We've come full circle.

I won't judge how anyone lives, that is up to them. But these city council resolutions and memorandums they often introduce are just easy political wins. They get to debate concepts that Amanda and Caleb from Fairfield county will post on Facebook telling everyone how much they love "their city" before they leave within the next 2 years. If one of the counselors doesn't vote for something like this the rabid overly political transient mob will have their heads.

Nobody's health insurance carrier will bend to some silly resolution by a city board. Marriage laws and such will not change either. But they get to look good and throw some meat to the constituency. These are the same people who are riding the "defund xyz" wave and voted to disband the housing authority police unit where there have been multiple shootings lately. But they need to keep the lily white $4 artisan donut eaters happy.

Sarah and Kristen both know what Jimmy is doing, and they are both ok with it. It's not a 3-some thing.

Or I guess it could be a 3-some thing - where Jimmy, Sarah, and Kristen all live together. I really don't know. I had to google polygamy and polyamory...and I just pasted the definitions.
I'm not sure if I want to live in a world where threesomes are frowned upon.

Call me cynical, but this is another one of those things that rarely benefits women.

Good old fashioned values:

Such as when men kept concubines to bear their children in case their primary wives were unable.

I don't remember Americans having those kinds of good old fashioned values, maybe I was absent that day when they taught it in High School history class.

But it's in the bible.
