So basically the 2010-2015 trend was basically linear thru 2020.

I wonder how much of it was 1) Puerto Rican’s coming here without starting a new household post Irma or b. With Overcounts in Sc/FL the amount of second winter homes were thought to be actual relocations

Their growth rate for the decade was 0.9% which is lower than every other state except for the three states that actually were in the negative. That is almost negative.

It gained 31,847 per the thread on the General US forum. Less than Maine.

...and for being sandwiched between two major metropolitan areas it is not impressive at all.

I don't know about Somerville exactly but I am pretty sure the undercounted are in large in urban areas. So yeah, Inner metro Boston, plus something in the other big cities of the state, but probably not much.

As for who they are....if I had to make a bet I would probably say Hispanics but maybe it's just a mix of many things.

Hopefully the Housing Choice Bill makes MA grow faster this decade than it did last!

I would assume they just undercounted the urban areas of MA makes the most sense. Probably a lot of Puerto Ricans undercounted as someone stated eariler, and MA did have a big surge in the illegal immigrant population this decade.

Actually that's a pretty good point. there was a fair amount of an exodus. How much did PR lose?

500,000... with huge shares of them relocating to NY, PA, FL and MA in particular.

Birth rate have dropped hard in 2020.

-4% total. -3% for Hispanics, -4% for both white and black, -8% for asians.
Age wise the drop was hardest for young women (<20, not a bad thing IMO)
I couldn't find state-level data but considering the racial make-up of MA and the age make up (older than average) I assume we are going to be around the average value.
