Thank you! This is helpful, I will look into Milton!

So to keep in perspective and let everyone know what we are dealing with now....we are moving from the bible belt NC to MA - I just want to ensure the actions of how a conservative town here behaves is the same as conservative over in MA. We are okay with a balance of people from different political backgrounds as long as it is a welcoming and a respectable community to everyone. Because that is not happening here in NC and we would love to avoid that trap again. Healthy debate is good!

Conservative here and we are talking an abundance of TRUMP flags (house, car, street posts, christmas lights) limited education on our history, anti LGBTQ flags and stickers, Anti Vax, excessive conservative rallies, volatile Nextdoor site due to this, walking around with guns just to show your rights, very Christian. If that is all happening in the South Shore (I have no idea!?) that is really helpful to know! I mean if that is your cup of tea, great - I just don't know if I can handle being immersed in it again lol.

I think Milton could work well for you especially if you're in need of a 3 bedroom house, there's lots of those in Milton. Wollaston beach is close by not to mention the beaches over at castle island and Umass Boston. Umass Boston has a marine biology program: https://environment.umb.edu/graduate-programs/mst-ms

Not sure that would be helpful for an 8 year old but it's there. Milton is also near the blue hills reservation which has great hiking trails. Schools are good, and you can't get any much close to Boston.

I know there are Trump supporters in MA...but not what you'd find where you are now. No one is walking around with guns up here either, at least not anyone I know.

Hingham is a very wealthy town, lots of 'showboats'. There are pockets that are more down to earth...but image is overall very important to many people living there, always has been. People certainly care if their hair is in place. Lots of SAHM's whose job is to stay in shape. Conservative crowd. Norwell and Scituate are more down to earth. Not sure on cohasset...i don't know enough people living there other than some family members who are very conservative/country club folks as well.

The South Shore is only conservative when compared to the Rt. 2 corridor, one of the most liberal part of on of the most liberal states. Nowhere on the South Shore went to Trump in 2020.

Only when you get to the South Coast do you start even getting majority Trump voter towns.

I agree with Jay. None of the towns on the South Shore you mentioned are remotely close to conservative on a national level. Biden took roughly 70 percent in Hingham/Cohasset etc.

As a former Hingham resident it’s always impressive how people from other towns seem to know exactly what it is like to live in Hingham. The stereotypes are very overblown

Lol ok. You need more money to live in Hingham now than ever before.

Just because you lived in Hingham doesn't even mean you know the ins and outs of everyone. I've been around Hingham people my whole life.

Correct. I know generations of Hingham people, I went to high school with them, have friends that live there and am very involved with many families from hingham today through my kids.

I get the impression that you're an MA transplant so you don't know it all just because you lived there a few years. If you dont think there are lots of people in Hingham who care much about money and image and living in an affluent town then you were friends with some unique folks there.

Not everywhere is a down to earth, average place to live in MA and that's ok

The majority of Hingham (57%) voted for Hingham but that doesn't mean there are no proud Trump supporters there.
