There is no such thing as a Miami accent, no matter what people here say.

It's not so much the people here, but people from elsewhere who say people here have an accent peculiar to this area.

OH, OK
then I have to rephrase it:

There is no such thing as a Miami accent, no matter what people from other areas say.

There are many accents in miami, not just one or three. It goes beyond 10, I think.

Why is it so absurd to think that Miami has it's own accent?
There is definitely a New York accent. It is the result of people being exposed to the 10 or more accents there where there are major Jewish influences as well as Irish, Dutch and Russian. All of these accents combined to make the New York accent as we now know it. So why is it so absurd to think that the Cuban, Puerto Rican, Dominican, Haitian, Colombian, Russian, Italian, German would not combine in some way as to result in a Miami accent? I've definitely noticed it. It is often fairly subtle though.
