THEIR FRIEND A BANDIT

Jack Spencer, 1710 Faraon street, and Charles White, Muscotah, Kan., met a man on Edmond street last night who told them he would take them out to ring doorbells and have great fun. The pair followed him, and this morning are wondering just what is meant by fun.
At Tenth and Scott streets Spencer was hit over the left eye with a gun and $17 was taken from him. White didn't remember just what happened, but his purse is missing. Police detectives are investigating the case today.

MACHINE GUN IS SEIZED; TWO EX-CONVICTS QUESTIONED

Police confiscated a machine gun from a home in the 2800 block of Glasgow avenue last night and arrested two men. Officers said they found no cartridges for the 9mm weapon, but that it was in working condition.
The two men, John Wasson, 5600 block of Kennerly avenue, and Donald Cantor, 2800 block of Rauschenbach, were viewed by five of the gamblers who were held up and robbed at Lake Holiday Resort in Jefferson County last week. The gamblers were unable to identify the men. One of the robbers carried a machine gun.
Wasson told officers he obtained the weapon from the home of his father, who lives near Missouri Highway 21 and the Meramec river, and took it to the home of another relative living on Glasgow. Wasson and Cantor, both convicts, were arrested after Patrolmen Bobby Matthews and Joe Alexander received information that the two men had a machine gun. Possession of such a weapon is a violation of Federal law.

BURGLARY AND ARSON AT MOBERLY

At 2 o'clock Wednesday morning, an alarm of fire was sounded, and a stable on the premises of A.C. Radell was found to be on fire. While the firemen were extinguishing the blaze, a heavy report was heard at the lumber yard near the depot.
When reaching that area, the safe of G.P. Hassett was found to be blown open, the door having been blown clear across the room. The noise frightened the burglars away, but they were seen by Mr. Dillion, night yard master, and after considerable search were found hidden in a freight car, two white men and one colored.
Upon searching the parties, three revolvers, three razors, a lot of pocket knives, cigars, a bunch of fuse, also a small lamp and a drill punch were found. They now languish in the Moberly jail.
The white men gave their names as Robert Burns, and James Woods. The negro John Miner. The safe blown open contained 15 cents in money.
