Very. As is the state I live in. EXTREMELY so. So, how is Montreal not "the immigrant's dream" yet these places in the US are? I get what you're saying to an extent, but I highly disagree with you.

Why would young French girls go to CEGEP Heritage when their country has all those wonderful Grandes Ecoles?

I'm liking this thread more and more for what participating Americans are contributing.

Kudos to them for the departure from the normal inane stuff your read on here.

They're here to learn English in a non-intimidating environment for francophones, I guess.

BTW the interviewer is a native anglo, though his French is very fluent.

California, which was cited as an immigrant's dream (though it's true many people dream of California), is hardly paradise. Yes, it's beautiful and has a climate that appeals to many. But its got huge budgetary crises that lead to serious problems with a whole range of critical public services, it is racially polarized and conflicted, and has problems with crime, illegal immigration, natural disasters like horrifying fires, floods, earthquakes.

And of course they have him as their federal-level president.

This is another MAJOR issue in the US that does not exist this way in other developed countries.

Not yet; but believe me, our various governments are furiously working on that. Seems they've all read the same little red book or something. Just a matter of time.
