I like South Jersey, even though I'm from North Jersey,Essex County to be exact.
The housing and taxes are comparable to North Carolina.
The same people snubbing South Jersey are the same people who would move to Nc in a minute.
Having lived in both,in my honest, honest opinion, south Jersey is so similiar to Nc,at times I feel as if I am in Nc.
I can drive 5 minutes from my house and see farms, and there is so much green and trees, parks, etc.
The bonus? You are in the middle of 2 great cities, depending on where you are in south Jersey.
You could either head into Nyc or Philly.
Others can head into Philly,Baltimore,or Washington D.C.

South Jersey(the Western part anyway, forget the shore) is Nj's best kept secret.
I hear ya. Location is prolly NJ's best asset. I don't really understand why people move out to states like NC when there is South Jers, which is affordable too, and they don't have to leave their whole lifestyle behind, since everything remains at driving distance.
I guess the Western part of South Jers doesn't get congested during the summer months like the shore?

No,just a few like the Turnpike, but that's because of all the construction, not necessarily congestion.
I think when most people hear "south Jersey" they automatically think of the shore.
I know I did before I moved to southwestern Nj.

Check out Burlington County,or Gloucester County. I think Camden County is too close to Camden City.
To be specific, check out Sicklerville in Gloucester County.
I think Cumberland and Salem might be considered in the middle of nowhere.
Cape May is a little expensive.

I grew up in Burlington County near Philly. It is nowhere near congested than the NE New Jersey where I live right now. For the money I paid for a 1700 sq ft duplex in Fort Lee, I could get a Mansion in south New Jersey. I am not kidding. I looked.

You can live in Delran, Cinnaminson, Maple Shade, Pennsauken, Cherry Hill, etc for suburban living, big house, lots of land, not too much traffic, very affordable.

Camden County is most definitely not too close to Camden haha. Directly bordering Camden is Collingswood, one of the nicest towns in the area. If it weren't for the news, you wouldn't even know Camden exists. It's for the most part a self-contained hole with the exception of suburbanites going in to buy drugs.

Traffic in SJ isn't that bad compared to other big metro areas. Some roads can get really congested on summer days when everyone's headed down the shore, but overall daily traffic is for the most part tolerable.

Is that congestion mostly near the shore or in the westerns parts of South Jers too?

How's the job market in that area? My field would mostly have to do with government jobs.

I would have to disagree with this. If it was the Sicklerville I grew up in, I'd be the first to suggest it, but it now has a lot of crime. Williamstown still has nice areas, though, but the crime is encroaching there, too. Camden County is a big county, and the majority of towns are nowhere near Camden city.
