If you're not part of the herd, you should be quarantined until the disease runs its course. That's what they did in the days of polio when there was an outbreak. People stayed away from other people and in their own houses.

Unfortunately, a lot of these "anti vaxers" think they can carry on as usual and end up passing whatever it is around like typhoid.

Yes, he survived, to old age. Used crutches or a walker his whole life. Had deformed feet.

I used to work with a guy who contracted what was apparently a "mild" case of polio in the early '50s, prior to the advent of the Salk vaccine. With the exception of a minor deformity of his legs, he recovered... or so he thought.

When he was in his late '60s, he developed Post-Polio Syndrome, and his last few years were spent in great discomfort.

"That’s why knowingly exposing others to an infectious disease is a crime."

Quarantine is perfectly legal.

you make a more definitive statement than is really appropriate. for one thing, the previous poster suggesting arresting/quarantining people who arent infected; just havent been vaccinated. if you wanted to say they were infected; then id be curious to see a court case where someone was charged. lots of people knowingly walk around with infectious diseases.

for one thing; that link you posted said it was for international travel and travel between states. i didnt see it addressing people who dont travel out of state. im not sure what laws individual states has, it seems it likely varies. id imagine that if the state decided to quarantine people for many infectious diseases; someone would likely challenge it in court and may be successful.

The people subject to quarantine would be those who are not vaccinated and who have been exposed to the disease, because they can spread it before they have symptoms if they get infected.

You stopped reading too soon.

"States have police power functions to protect the health, safety, and welfare of persons within their borders. To control the spread of disease within their borders, states have laws to enforce the use of isolation and quarantine."

"The federal government ... May assist state and local authorities in preventing the spread of communicable diseases."

"State, local, and tribal authorities ... Enforce isolation and quarantine within their borders."

"Public health authorities at the federal, state, local, and tribal levels may sometimes seek help from police or other law enforcement officers to enforce a public health order."

you are pulling out individual sentences but there are limits to all of those quotes you posted.
