This is one of my favorite bluegrass performers of today.

My uncle was a hillbilly from kentucky, and played local gigs in chicago bars in the 1960's with his flat steel, he was very good, could make it talk.

I do miss the live bluegrass music.

Thanks for the links on Emmylou. I've always loved her voice but haven't heard anything about her in years.

Hombre - I would have loved to see your uncle.

He was a pretty smart guy for being from the hill country. He was a machinist, and on weekends moonlighted playing gigs, he had a family of six. A person with a really great work ethic and high moral standards. He's been dead now for about 25 years. Maybe gone, but never forgotten. He was a veteran too.

I'm sure there are many people here who have lost relatives which are never forgotten.

Our little get together for my nephew in the Marines on Saturday turned into a big deal. We had about 50 people in our house. We were expecting 20 to 30. It was 112 degrees outside so nobody wanted to be outside. I had only made about 10 pounds of Carne Asada and only had 40 flour tortillas. Good thing someone brought a couple of subs from Costco. All in all it turned out fine.

Not that I am counting, but only 23 days to vacation time. On August 26 we will be flying into Spokane, renting a car and driving to Kalispell, MT to start our 10 days driving through Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park.

I wish we had time to stop in Ruidoso, but we probably won't get back there until October.

Sounds like fun. Several years ago, my late husband and I flew to Seattle and then rented a car and drove back through Idaho, Montana and South Dakota. Beautiful scenery and then back to hot humid Missouri.

Been hitting 100 degrees again in my area. Thinking about running away from home for a few days!
