Big Bend is hot as hell from late April to the end of September. Visiting from October to March is fantastic, with usually great weather! We were down in early April, and it was very comfortable!

It stormed bad here today. Our computer modem was fried and we had to go down the hill to get another one at the phone company today. It's fixed now anyway.
It rained alot. It thundered alot and I can do without that.
It smells good outside now.

Okay, I was reading your post. I'd been hearing some distant rumbling of thunder for a few minutes. Now, I know that as soon as I hear that, it's time to start thinking about pulling the power plug and letting my computer shut down on back-up power and disconnecting my phone line. I've learned (or I thought I had) that the next thing, will be a huge bolt of lightning that sounds like it's on top of me.

Well, I started going through the routine. I had barely finished when Kaboom!!, the windows shook. SPOOKY!! Then I watched TV for an hour (argh) while the storm raged. All is quiet now. Thanks for the warning.

It scared me and the dogs but I'm glad that's all it blew up. At least they had an extra modem hanging around and we didn't have to wait.
Glad you got your stuff unplugged in time though.

Hi everyone.
Been gone all day to Alamogordo and then to B&B restaurant here. Pretty decent tacos tonight.

Has anyone ridden a bicycle from Cloudcroft to Alamogordo? Does the highway between Cloudcroft and Alamogordo have nice wide shoulders for riding bicycles?
Thanks.

I have not, but there are many that do ride bikes. Not a wide shoulder much of anywhere, but not much traffic either. Cars can usually give wide berth. Its a great road for bikers - on any 2 wheels.
