I didn't take any photos, alas, and we didn't see any apartments with balconies. My daughter prefers being closer to Eighth Avenue because of the subway.
We saw mainly G's, which is the smallest, cheapest layout, and I was very pleasantly surprised. The rooms are a good size, and the bedroom wasn't long and narrow as I had thought it would be, based on the floor plans. It's certainly fine for a single person or a couple. I also liked the "corner windows." Four good closets, one particularly large. The drawback of the G is the small kitchen.
The A line is a spacious layout, with the large, eat-in kitchen and a window in the bathroom. Good closets. Very nice layout.
The C line usually has a balcony, but we saw one on a low floor without a balcony. Very large windows in living room, large kitchen, good closets. A wonderful layout.
If I had to pick for myself, I would go for a C on a higher floor with a balcony.
I'm not sure who's more excited you or your daughter.
I know you have been very active on this thread all along, so I am very happy for your family. I hope your daughter gets the apartment she wants.
Thank you, both! My daughter is very low-key, but she's excited too, in her own way. She and her husband have outgrown their rental studio and really are looking forward to having another room!
a_hoax, I don't know where to find the monthly charges for studios, but the one-bedroom rates I saw were quite reasonable. For instance, for a mid-floor G, which is the smallest one-bedroom layout in the complex, the monthly charge is $616. So the studio should be less than that I imagine, depending on the layout.
Hey everyone. Do we know if there's a pattern to when the waiting list gets updated?
After discussing with a friend, they assumed it could be monthly (like how people normally move in/out the 1st or 15th of the month). But I heard it could be quarterly updates. Of course, I'll keep an eye out for direct communication from management, but I'm curious to know if there's a pattern here so I can maybe stop checking daily if my number has gone down.
My daughter has moved steadily up the one-bedroom list in 2021, and the list got updated every once in a while. I think the one-bedroom list moves the fastest because that size is the most numerous. She moved up about 90 places in 2021 and was called to see apartments when she was about 120 on the list.
Congrats Mac! It's always wonderful to hear such great news. We need to hear more good things in these times.
