When u pay ur first months rent and security don't they give u the keys or do u have to wait until they schedule a move in date to move in your furniture for them to give u the keys?

In all NYC buildings, people get the keys on their lease start date.

No, my lease started on the 1st, I moved on the second (the morning I got my keys, couldn’t even pick them up the night before). My last building I was able to move in a 2-3 days before my lease started.

Checks, they will tell you all of that. You can go to your bank and get certified checks.
