Why in NY the NYPD is allowed to check bags but not ask someone for their immigrant papers?

Isn't that a concern as well?

Because NYPD is worried about terrorist who might be carrying a bomb or something of that effect than wasting time on wondering if you are an illegal immigrant plus this NY and it would be a civil rights issue if they did.

Look at the mess it caused in Arizona.

Because we do not live in 1942 Gestapo Germany. There is no such thing as "immigration papers" anyway. You should realize we have just as many native born and white terrorists (Oklahoma city anyone) as any other type of terrorists, so asking for "immigration papers" is pointless. Furthermore, if you are requiring people to carry proof of citizenship..what happens when you run to the corner store at 11 pm and forget it at home? You get fined by the police? Arrested and put through the system until you can "prove" citizenship?

No thanks. If you have a problem with immigrants why live in America? We are a NATION of immigrants. Move to China.

We are a nation of laws.
A nation of immigrant applies to every western country.
If you don't like people asking your status then you leave this country.

What does Germany have to do with enforcing a countries law & protecting American citizens?

ID's should be carried at all times.
You carry an ID when driving, cashing a check. (This is for Americans)
Why should foreigners get special treatment?

First, your technically a foreigner, and this isn't Arizona or California. Second, America is the major destination for immigrants, and all western nations are nations of laws. Third, how do you become safer by knowing some guy got arrested because his green card expired?
And what special treatment? Police stop you for breaking a law of the road (mostly) and ask for your ID. Cashing a check requires ID so that the bank knows that you are who you say you are. Basically, IDs are asked for when you do something wrong. Is someone doing something wrong just by living?

You do not know me. I am an American. Lets get one thing straight we are talking about law breakers not being checked vs law abiding citizens being searched.

A person who breaks one law are bound to break another.

You are technically supposed to have your ID when driving, cashing a check, etc.... Regardless of reason.

You are saying New York is not America anymore?

America does have laws and New york is Part of America.

I think your heritage says otherwise.
Bold: Still, I'm sure they will find out about their immigration status when they are in jail.

Not really true. Your telling me if I break the speed limit I'm going to go assault someone next?

Technically yeah you are suppost to have your ID but you don't just get stopped out of no where and asked for it.

NY is part of America but it doesn't share all of the country's problems.
