Yes there are Troopers in NY Trooper cars on bridges and tunnels. Yes thats a fact.
But ALSO there are Bridge and Tunnel officers patrolling with them. Since cashless tolling went into effect, they took all of the Bridge and Tunnel officers and put them in patrol cars (With new paint scheme) to enforce vehicle and traffic laws.
They have very different uniforms and see both daily on my travels around NYC bridges.
Next time you cross a bridge slow down and look in the cars. You will see a trooper in Trooper cars and BTO's in BTO cars. No reason to put a trooper in a BTO car lol.
