IIRC, I saw a NYS trooper on the Major Deagan last week. That was a first.

In other states, the state police are way more active, its just that NYC is a different monster and such a large police force, its only now that ppl are wondering why "the staties" are here....FWIW, I know its not NYC, but they were always on the SSP forever

Troopers in the area are usually just on Long Island

Everybody has been seeing this happen over the past few months, Cuomo has deployed 200 Troopers (and counting) in NYC to occupy and control the city

Midday on 11.18.2017, I crossed the Whitestone Bridge and found 4 troopers idling their cars at various places. One spot that appears to be built for police is when the cables to the Bronx anchorage pass through the bridge structure, and the shoulder first appears. I suspect these stake-outs (4 seen in the 2 minutes it took to cross the bridge) are looking for obscured license plates. And that I cheer.
---
Crossing the Throgs Neck bridge a few hours later, I spotted 2 troopers.
---
In both directions, no MTA cops were spotted. Do they refuse to stop people who evade Andy's tolls?

Far more obscured license plates can be observed on the Long Island Parkways than on these two bridges to The Bronx.
