AutumnTraveler...the government already tells you what to do, how to do it, and when to do it...and controls almost everything in your life. However, for this particular ban..they are not telling you what you can't do..they are just limiting the largest available size. You can still buy 800 cokes, but the largest size is 16oz of each. I mean really..what is the big deal?

You are right though..people still are free to smoke and drink as much as they like, and the smoking ban and this size restriction will not prevent you from doing either if you want to. So what is the big deal then?

16 oz. was probably the size
that was used when they first
started selling fountain drinks.

Can I fart? Belch? Pick my nose? Have sex with anyone I choose?

Where is the line drawn? How many "STEP"s is too much?

Think about that.

I support LABELs on products, just like cigarettes and alcohol. People still smoke and drink anyway because they have the freedom of CHOICE.
The "STEP"'s he/she speaks of are just hurdles to getting what you want, but they're not ultimately preventing you from what you want.

On a side note, IMO this ban is aimed towards school-aged children who often drink sodas. There are many independent young children who commute, eat, hang out w/o parental supervision by themselves in this city. They certainly don't read labels. This ban sets a hurdle for them: It's more of a hurdle to buy several 16 oz beverages than a single 16*x oz beverage.

Ok, so we punish everyone? That shouldn't ever be the case in this society. Just because some kids might drink a lot of soda, no one should be allowed to buy more then 16oz. THat's just insanity and that's why this country doesn't care about it's rights. They let politicians slowly erode them one by one.

How are you being punished exactly? Sounds more like whining...are you being punished cause they don't serve sodas in giant buckets??

It's funny because every time you try to make it seem like we want the right to drown ourselves in soda. LISTEN.

We don't want or need government involvement into our everyday lives. We choose to live our lives free from the control of politicians that dictate how we should conduct ourselves. The more we shrug our shoulders and say "oh well", the more they get to take. Remember the Boston Tea Party? The went crazy over tea taxes, what would they think now of how much government dictates what we have?

You do want or need government into your every day life. You do realize they are already 100% in it right? Name me something you believe you do "freely without government involvement"...anything.

it's stupid to make people pay more
by buying four 16 oz. sodas when they
could just buy one 64 oz. soda if they
wish. duh! it's a free country, right?

So you can drive as fast as you want? I love how you guys wave the freedom flag over the most pointless things when there are actual issues out there that go ignored. Do you believe people should be able to marry who they want and women should have the right to say what happens with their own body? Or are you too worried about how much soda you can drink in a single cup?

Your "drive as fast as you want" attempt is beyond ridiculous, and has already been addressed several pages ago.

But yes, I believe people should be able to marry whom they want and that women should have control over their own bodies.
