i cant speak much about parkchester from my personal knowledge but from word of mouth (dont know how true it is) parkchester is starting to turn into a run down wild hood now
Recommended areas:
Pelham Parkway or Morris Park near Loretta park or Country Club Rd & Pelham Bay near the 6 train.
My husband grew up there and lived in the area for 31yrs.
Good luck with your move!

There are other words of mouth that will say otherwise.
Check out Van Cortland Village, it’s just above Kingsbridge near the Reservoir. Worthy note, the reservoir makes a great Jogging destination. I hear this place is decent and not far from Broadway where you would find a gym. Also Van Cortland Park is nearby that makes a great amenity.
Interesting post. For starters I don't think living in the Bronx will make a good commute to chelsea. However some people mentioned Metro-North and that's a good quick option into the city. It's more expensive but quick, clean, and safe. You'll be in Chelsea in no time. If you don't mind that option then check out the surrounding areas of the Bronx stops along the Hudson line (Marble Hill, Riverdale) and Harlem Line (Woodlawn, Wakefield).
The thing about the Bronx I think is that there are just so many neighborhoods and each neighborhood seems to have its own branches of sub-neighborhoods. Riverdale is huge and there are like 5 different sections in that area alone!
Best thing to do is to scope out the areas suggested in this post and walk around. Someone mentioned that Kingsbridge is going down and I think it's fine. I live there and it's safe.
Good luck.
