Create the demographic conditions of the US in any other country and either one of two things will happen. A dictatorship or a complete mess (see India).

Having vast amounts of people just getting by while a tiny minority gets richer every year isn't a sustainable trend.
Revolutions have started because of this.

I said it before and I'll say again.
This is the biggest threat to national security. Much more so than all the B.S. war we are fighting abroad.

Income inequality in a post industrial world doesn't mean much. Human labor has become exceptionally specialized and less of it is needed as time goes on.

Someone who is not contributing to output, cannot expect anything more than the bare minimum in food, shelter, and medical care to survive. What else does society owe them? Anything past that has to be earned to acquired in another way.

What we have now is many people believing that since they live in the US, they are automatically owed something more. And when they don't get it, they say "America sucks!".

Take a look at what makes our modern world go round. How many people in this world know how crops are grown and harvested? How many people know how Cell Phones or the internet actually work? How many people know how petroleum is harvested and refined?

How many of the actual necessary people are there in this world out of 7 billion? Less than 50 million probably?

I thought we had freedom of speech. One is free to say America sucks if one feels that way.

Of course they are free to say it. Just like I am free to say that 2 + 2 equals 5. What then? Is my position valid?

There's freedom of speech, but not freedom from taking responsibility for what you say. If you say 2 + 2 equals 5 then we can all classify you as an idiot.

You are waaaaay generalizing. "White" people come from very diverse cultural backgrounds and not all of them stick together, network or follow the same rules.

Resentment against the well off. The resenters are NYers who were born and raised in this city and had to take all the crap thrown at them from day one. The resentees are those well off who move into neighborhoods that are deemed trendy, turn those neighborhoods into their playgrounds, and drive prices and rents up. The resenters can no longer afford to live in their own town let alone play in it. And if you're a native working class NYer, haven't you felt the bias against you from the last two mayoral administrations ?

With plenty of people unemployed or underemployed , and with plenty of folks coming from abroad but also from the American Midwest seeking employment opportunities after college. I smell a recipe for disaster. Hopefully things will change in the next 5 months when Bloomberg is gone. Well off can be anybody but yes it is mostly white, but if you want to break it down the top of the cream is mostly old blood blood Wasp/Dutch and current money Jews! But increasingly many Easterners from China, Russia and India are spending and bringing their wealth to the city along with those from Latin America.
Easterns such as people from India, Russia, China are bringing their wealth to NYC helping the economy in positive ways they usually get an education, hold high paying jobs, open up business, but Latin America is not helping much alot of them are illeagls, get involved in criminal activites, need public assistance to survive. pretty sure like Blacks when Latin Americans move in and other spanish people property value goes down because they usually don't maintain their homes.

I have a trade education, I have my craft and prefected it and I make alot of money I hold Licences, I had to do sittime in a powerplant , go to class, and pass a test to obatin my Licensce.

I didn't need to waist 4 years of my life in college and come out 50,000 dollars in debt. I work with chemist, scientist, and engineers. I work in the Maintenance and Engneering Department and I make more money them most of them. Whoever told you that you need a college degree to increase your wealth lied to you.

If you can work like a man role up your selves and are not afraid to put a hard days of work in, you can make a great living, oh yeah I get paid by the hour which means I get overtime pay, double time pay, etc. Alot of these college bookworms are salary workers and even if they work a 10 hour day they only get payed for 8. Bet they didn't teach you that in college.

Are all Asian neighborhoods well off, and do all Asians have professional jobs or good educations? No, and ditto for Russians. I've known Russian prostitutes, for example, from South Brooklyn. There are a lot of Asian "massage" parlors. Guess what really goes on there (organized prostitution). There's a lot of poverty among Asians in Elmhurist. When I lived in Jackson Heights, there were 20 people in the two bedroom apartment above the apartment I lived in). And they were Pakistani.

Don't get me wrong, yes, there are Asian engineers and scientists who come to the US. But that is a minority of Asians by far.

Most Asians like any other group, are working class, and most don't have degrees. Iliiteracy is still common among the poor in China and India. A lot of Asians brought here work in sweat shops.

So tell me how would property values in an area be with 20 Pakistanis and other Asians in one house? Oh, you also have Asian gangsters in Queens too.

Jesus xmas. Houston we have a problem! Sorry for not being too specific when I mentioned Latin America. Plenty of South Americans who come from the Southern cone of the continent like Chile, Argentina and Uruguay are always touring in NYC. Also they folks also buy and rent properties in prime areas. Alsk lets not forget Brazil which is the 2nd power in the Americas have plenty of tourist who spend money in NYC but also buy and rent property. In a couple of weeka it will be Brazil day and hundrezs of thousands Brazilians will be there and many do not live in the ghetto. The only countries in South America that is wreck of poverty are Venezuela, Guyana, Bolivia, Suriname, Ecuador, Columbia, Peru, Suriname and to a lesser extent Paraguay, and the people who leave these countries are very poor with no assests and trust funds and move to their little enclaves in Queens and the Bronx. Lets not forget that Carlos Slim is a Mexican who is also the worlds wealthiest persons, a title that an American ex Microsoft ceo Bill Gates used to have. Im sure Carlos slim and other wealthy Mexicans have homes in Manhattan. Hell I even came across well off Dominicans and believe me these Dominicans wont ever step foot in the West Bronx and Washington Heights/Inwood. Never.
