Who cares what anyone thinks? If you like GUNS, buy one. What happened to us as Americans? Maybe it is hard to be around people that have different leanings and political beliefs. Geez, life is to short. Granted, i do not live in nyc but who cares. If you move somewhere because of political leanings take a hard look at yourself.
Yes, I think also the racism of Trump's campaign (and Trump himself) appealed to Eastern European Americans.
From what I understand, the Soviet education system was very racist and taught the inferiority of all non-European cultures.
I don't know, but when I was in Romania in the 90s, they hated the Russians,--actually all former eastern block countries seemed to dislike and not trust each other.
People were so unused to foreigners at that time that no one even realized I was one until I said so (even though my Romanian was pretty bad). There were some African students here and there. Some of the people I met (mostly older ones) were quite openly racist and homophobic unfortunately.

Seriously.
The fact people even consider this is insane. I think republicans nowadays are treasonous scum, but I honestly may be moving to Texas in the future for work. I’m also considering moving to the South when I retire.
Lighten up people, focus on stuff that’s important in life.

They may have hated the Russians, but as part of the Eastern block, they were likely educated in the Soviet (racist) system.

My country was not in the Eastern bloc, and the three domestic ethno-religious groups (all white) were too busy attacking each other to even give any thought to racism. As far as my education went, I remenber it as heavily focused on chemistry, biology, physics, math and languages (ie, racism was not one of the subjects).

I thought you stated that you are from Eastern Europe?
That high school was near her home, but she attended the High School of Music and Art (now LaGuardia)
Oh that's cool.
