Got my call for Suffolk today. I begin there July 11th, Family Court. They didn’t specify what location though.
Congrats!!!! That's my dream job!!! I know its been asked a thousand times, but what was your rank? I know I have a snowball's chance but just curious.
I interviewed on 5/21 for NYC family court and received a letter from the OCA stating that "you were not reached by rank for appointment." It also states that this doesn't affect my eligibility for future vacancies. Has anyone else that interviewed that day been hired or receive this letter? Is not being reached for appointment a euphemism for not being what they're looking for or is it as it states?
My rank is 46X.
Congratulations to all that were recently hired! I wish you the best in your new careers with the NYS courts.

350s, but I am already working for NYC courts. I began last Thursday and currently training. I did hear from a co-worker whose mother is in the system that Suffolk only had 8 jobs open. She worked in Suffolk prior to her current position and still knows people there.
yes, I received the same letter from OCA after interviewing with NYC citywide courts. Yes, "not being reached" is a sort of passive voice way of saying they're not offering you the job. "not being reached" = "not selected"
I do believe you'll continue to get availability inquiries from other courts within your geographic preference area(s).
We're in a similar position. My concern is being hired - getting lots of availability inquiries and interviews is nice, but the end goal is to start working in the court system.
Your numbers will remain active for the city courts as well. So if they didn’t pick you now, next go around they can call you again. I was assigned to Brooklyn but now going to Suffolk, thus a position opening in Brooklyn. It can happen.
Congratulations!! That's a great start time too- you only have to wait one pay period
Wait one pay period to do what? If you are saying that he only has to wait one pay period to get his first check then that is incorrect.
Every new hire will have to wait two pay periods (approx 1 month) to get their first paycheck. All new hires start at the beginning of a pay period which is the Thursday after a payday.
If a new employee starts on July 11, 2019 they won’t see their first paycheck until August 7, 2019.
Iwetoddit said he started in Brooklyn last Thursday so he will get his first paycheck on July 10, the day before he starts in Suffolk.

Right on the money NYCourtGuy. The end of a pay period is when we get paid. That’s why it takes a month before one see a paycheck.
