350s, but I am already working for NYC courts. I began last Thursday and currently training. I did hear from a co-worker whose mother is in the system that Suffolk only had 8 jobs open. She worked in Suffolk prior to her current position and still knows people there.
Good to know. I didn't think I had a chance there anyway. Good luck to you!!!!
Congratulations!! That's a great start time too- you only have to wait one pay period
Wait one pay period to start. Many people are hired and it's a month before they start and another before they get paid. Wait of 2 weeks to start plus one month to get paid- not bad.
I guess I just think of everything in pay period increments. Hazards of working for the courts
It has been rather quiet in here. I have been a court assistant for over two weeks now and I am loving it personally. Kings County is the busiest in the country and still enjoy it. But on 7/15/19 I’ll be starting in Suffolk County.
From my understanding, there is still need for more court assistants in NYC. I don’t know when they will have interviews but I imagine it shouldn’t be too long. Plus people are taking promotions at all levels so there will be movement. I don’t know where they are on the list but I trained with people with ranks up to 400s.
My husband has been offered a transfer to long island area - I started working in JD7 about 2 months ago. I'm a permanent employee but obv im still on probation. When is the earliest I should request a transfer? Thanks!

Should or can? You’re better off asking your union rep for a definitive answer as to when you can. From what I remember, NYC court assistants can put in for a transfer almost immediately after being hired. Don’t know if that’s the same for your JD and/or bargaining unit.
As for “should” the answer is: as soon as you can. Transfers can take a long time to come through especially to highly sought-after locations like Long Island.
I'm starting to get discouraged. Several interviews but no offers, and fully qualified for the roles. Does it tend to be that they interview a lot more candidates than there are available positions? Will I continue to be called for interviews, but with no greater likelihood of being offered the job?
