I don't see how it's much different from now. Stay at home, only go out for essentials. What's different about what they put in place the other day?
Beats the h$$$ out of me. I think he's talking just for the sake of talking.
Maybe once it's made official, NYPD can now make arrests for non compliance (like they do in Italy?) or will it be more like San Fran (where it's more like an honor system)? I think cops will have enough to do without adding arresting people for just walking around on their list.

More like fines. Like 1,000 for not following guidance.

One really major difference is that most likely all stores will be closed with the exception of grocery, pharmacy, banks, hardware stores and gas stations.
ALL OTHER RETAIL would be completely shut down. That's certainly not the case right now, although some retail is voluntarily closing, such as Macy's, Nordstrom, Eddie Bauer. I also just got a message from my local wine store that they have decided not to let people come into the shop, however, they will still allow people to order and come pick up. I believe that's a voluntary decision on their part -- as far as I know, as of now, no one is forcing wine stores to become pickup only.
If you want to know how life would be under a shut down order, just google articles about San Francisco.

Because many people are still casually strolling along and I saw what had to be literally a 35 year old Woman smiling ear to ear giggling like a school girl and Happy as a dog in a pile of chicken bones. I mean there is literally no reason to be that happy right now....none.
I would estimate only 20% of New Yorkers are 100% informed and aware of the severity of this and what is happening to the global economy.
Went to the doctor and he said I tested positive for the corona virus. I said doctor I want s second opinion and he said Your ugly too...
Is this a joke...How were you even able to get tested unless you were unconscious???
If you can walk yourself into a medical facility without any assistance and your knees aren't buckling I highly doubt you will be able to get tested successfully. The latest criteria is pretty clear. If you have casual cold symptoms you will be turned away.

Not everyone gets depressed over things that haven't affected them yet. I'm right in the thick of this on multiple fronts (and very well informed). I'm just as happy as I also am. I see no reason NOT to be.
The right wing will take the money and not even see it as socialism at work. They won't even think it's just as Bernie Sanders would have proposes. They won't go the next step to have universal health care because that is socialism. They don't make the connect the dot logic you would think.
This crisis will go on until next year and potentially millions will die. It’s a virtual state of war. It throws out politics.
European nations did public healthcare to help rebuild Europe after the devastation of WW2. The same is already starting to happen in places hit around by the Coronavirus in the states. NYC is expanding hospitals, turning hotels into hospitals, may turn dormitories into hospitals, etc.

Its already happening in France. Folks need to carry a piece of paper telling why and where and for how long they are going out when accosted by a cop. The cop signs it and if the person is stopped again and their being out out and about doesn't satisfy the police, they can be fined.
The French government has a pretty extensive list of essential services so that people needing to go to and from work have more mobility.
