Yeah no crap, but I have no problem affording the spending it takes to prepare for other aspects of this dilemma so why not do so?
I live in a place where degenerates from another part of the Island regularly ride the train to steal change from our cars. Imagine when they can’t get food for themselves anymore.
I spend $200 on alcohol and coffee alone. Untold thousands on ammo and wisely stocked my foodstuffs.
Apparently the boy scout motto is only respected if you’re talking about bringing tin foil, matches and a fish hook to a weekend camping trip. Some of us apply it to real life.
I bet that right up until a month ago you were laughing at all of my prep-centric posts. Look where we are now. Where might we be next week?
Yep. People here whipping themselves up like Mel Gibson in Brave Heart " They can never take my freedom " have me both amused and disturbed. This need to feel aggrieved. This need to feel tough is masking a deep sense of fear. It's scary I guess. Then they watch and read about it more and more. Some folks need to take a chill pill.
lol. Yeah. All that stress and anger negatively impacts your immune system. Something you need to be able to successfully fight off the virus. I'm focused on being part of the "lucky 83%" who have got it but self recovered at home without hospitalization. So...I'm thinking happy thoughts while eating healthy foods. Right now, I'm looking at ways to exercise at home since I can't go to the gym anymore. Really, that bugs me the most. That I can't go!
But, I get why it had to be done. It's not the end of the world. Stay healthy!
"On Tuesday, the MTA penned a letter to the state’s congressional delegation seeking a $4 billion federal bailout to compensate for dwindling ridership amid increased cleaning costs, states a New York Times report."
"Subway ridership are down 60% and bus ridership is down 49%, respectively, on Monday. During Tuesday morning rush hour, ridership on the Metro-North Railroad and Long Island Rail Road were down 90% and 67%, respectively."
The MTA is expected to lose approximately $3.7 billion in fare revenue over the coming months if ridership trends remain in tact, with additional cleaning expenses expected to near $300 million, according to the report.
The shelter in place would still allow everyone to do the essentials like the ones you just mentioned wouldn't it?
Yes. You can still make runs to the grocery or pharmacy or visit a sick, loved one.
Those are essentials. I think you just can't go window shopping at Macy's. Not that you could anyway since they're closing all their stores until this blows over.
If there is a shutdown (which Cuomo is not in favor of).
Like another poster had said, she/he will comply to the shutdown by default because what's to do and where would you go if everything is closed? If anything, it'll be spooky out there so I'd rather stay put at home and catch up on reading material, shows on Netflix, Amazon Prime, You Tube. And figure out a way to exercise at home.
