Final score

In short: the London Underground is easier to navigate, the New York City Subway has bigger, actual air-conditioned cars. The stations are cleaner in London, New York is cheaper. The staff are so much nicer in London, you don’t have to travel to the centre of the Earth to get to a train in New York. The space issue counts for a lot, it’s not just one tick in a box for New York. Yes, London has an older network, it covers a bigger area, but New York has more stations, more lines (technically speaking) and carries more people each year. London is way more expensive, but New York does run 24 hours a day, while we've only got 24 hour service two days a week, on a handful of lines. Many will disagree, but we're calling it... a draw.
By the way in comparison the London subway is 6.60 in dollars ....

Can you imagine trying to get people to pay 6.60 here to support the subway..people would freak out..so you can’t compare ...it is like comparing the Long Island rail road to the subway

Yeah, they charge by how far you go, that won't work here

For what they charge people should be happy what they get because they won’t pay anywhere near 6.60 for a better system

Liberals always think throwing more money at things fixes stuff. It fixes nothing.

A question for those of you currently in NYC: would you say it is totally fine, ok or dangerous to take the train from JFK to Manhattan, during the day?

It's fine, I've been practically doing this every Mon-Fri for the past 28 years on the A train and still doing it

This is what is wrong with NY and why people just accept the homeless taking over the MTA. You get people saying you should be happy with what you got.

You can also take the LIRR from JFK to Manhattan.

Thanks, Coney. This is a purely hypothetical question, as I'm not planning to spend time in NYC in the foreseeable future.

Just trying to get a feel of what the situation is like right now, especially on the A train (which I did take in the past to get to/from the airport, so I have a basis for comparison).
