I don't know about you, but we had a lot of plain old fun sex while we were procreating!

One day I wondered what percentage of sites on the internet are porn related. So, I asked the central mind (Google) and found out that approximately 12% of all internet sites are porn. That's quite a bit when you really think about it. Why are people obsessed with porn? I think it is because sex is repressed.

And I think religion represses sex through the promotion of abstinence. Abstinence is just another way of saying "repress sex." Marriage doesn't make sense for everyone. Not everyone wants it. Many people want to share love and sexual intimacy with a number of individuals, and as long as they aren't hurting anyone, why not? Kids are curious because they have bodies that are capable of various states of pain and pleasure. They will experiment. And I'd venture to guess that it's what has been done since the beginning of human presence on earth. To ask a kid to abstain from that instinct is to ask the impossible, and to ask them to abstain only from the behavior is to ask them to repress themselves. And that repression creates obsession, which leads to perversion. Thanks, religion!
Yours truly,
A recovering catholic
So just because someone has an instinct, they should be able to act on it? How about some responsibility and a sense that you can't always do everything you want to because there are consequences to having sex? Sure, having sex is absolutely a natural instinct. And it's natural consequence is producing a child. Teenagers are notoriously irresponsible using birth control, so if abstinence (or repression) will prevent unwanted pregnancies and STD's, then I'm all for it.
If I'm following your reasoning, rapists and child molesters somehow were repressed by their religion, then became obsessed perverts?

I haven't heard of any religions that ban marital sex unless procreating. Maybe I'm missing something.

I think as long as people are using protection and take responsibility it's no one else's business what they do in their bedroom.

I didn't say that. I said that religions encourage procreation. They don't just encourage marital sex. There's a difference.

Oh, ok. I guess they must be encouraging a different form of procreation.

We're not racists, we're realists.

Anyone whose is a Lenny Kravitz fan can't be a realist.

Kravitz= Wannabe Hendrix

RIP Mike Jackson

Well, that's not where I was headed, but I would agree that sexual repression resulting from religion has been a factor in the perverted behavior of some rapists and child molesters.
