January will be interesting.
When people can make and change the rules at will and have roving bands of armed men enforce said rules it makes life easier. Best thing? You do not even pay for the armed men. The people you are fleecing pay for them.

It doesn't change after you buy.

Once you enter a segment of the HOT lanes, the price you see on the sign for that segment is the price you pay.

The price for the next segment might change while you are in the first segment, but you can also choose to exit the lanes and not continue on to the next segment. There would never be a situation where you don't know how much you are paying.

I was just in VA going from Baltimore to Fredericksburg.

They are free lanes until after Christmas, so I took them a few times. I found the regular 3-lanes to be faster than the 2-HOT lanes.

Continue to slug. They will be a hot commodity.

At 8 am this morning the toll for the first day of tolling from Garrisonville Road to Edsall Road was $6.85 (24 cents a mile). Obviously, this is a slow commuting week and the tolls will probably increase gradually regardless. It took a while for them to increase on 495.

$6.85? This all seems very European.

$2.50 to go from Occoquan river (fairfax county line) to beltway. ALL regular lines were green (which is as rare as a honest politician).

Took the Hot Lanes Saturday coming back from D.C. to Exit 143B Garrisonville Rd., had well over 10 miles of bumper to bumper traffic, looking over at free lanes traffic was heavy but at least it was moving.
I had left D.C. by the Mall area around 11:30 didn't get off 95 till around 2:30.
