You've likely not read my earlier posts. I don't support Trump. I'm going to vote for Jill Stein. Of Trump and Hillary, Hillary is the one most likely to start a war for profit, she's supported it in the past. Nobody in her household will be going.

I'm a veteran turned hippy peace freak, and I've voted nearly straight "D" with few exceptions for as long as I can remember... which at my age isn't very long ago lol but I drive an old Volkswagen and I smoke a lot of weed. I don't want to be engaged in another war but mark my words, you heard it right here, Hillary will have doubled the number of US troops in harm's way by the middle of her first term.

This all started when another forum poster started calling me a liar because I'm a Democrat not voting for Hillary. I just can't make myself do it, she's a neocon war profiteer. I supported Bernie in the primary and despite his capitulation to the Clintons, I would support him again in a heartbeat.

I take it you're saying that because she voted for the Iraq war, along with most of the rest of Congress. But Trump said he too was for the war. He can disavow that now, but he didn't have to cast a vote. Although hindsight is 20/20, and anyone with any sense realizes the Iraq invasion was a colossal mistake, at least she actually took the decision seriously. I got the impression Trump had barely thought about it at all till he was asked just before the war and said "As long as they do it correctly, sure."

That's sort of how most people think about how airplanes are built: "Sure, why not! As long as, you know, they put all the tails and flap thingies on there. Next question."

I of course respect your military service and fully support your right to vote for whoever you think is best.

But can we be honest? We both know Stein isn't going to win. So if you're normally a Dem and you vote for Stein (or not at all), it's a vote for Trump.

Look, I get where you're coming fromL: The choices are crap! I freakin' loved Bernie. But then he lost the primary. That's just how it works. (I would really have preferred Biden, Warren, or Jim Webb.)

Over a year ago, I NEVER would've thought I could vote for Hillary. She's arrogant and cynical, and she definitely broke some major rules and possibly some laws. ("Confidential"--that notorious C mark on the one group of emails--is such a low level of classification that at DoD I don't believe it's ever even used.)

But it's either her or Donald. If you really think he's not worse and would be OK with it if a serial sex assaulter with a mile-wide impulsive streak gets the nuclear button, then by all means vote for Stein. Because if everyone with your political stance does as you're considering, then Trump will win.

As to Hillary's hawkish impulses, I really don't see her doing anything but continuing the war on ISIL. Any politician with any sense of self-preservation knows the electorate won't tolerate even the idea of another big military operation that involves large numbers of deployed forces, activating the National Guard, etc.

Finally--since you mentioned it--Trump if elected would very likely get to appoint several uber-conservative justices to the Supreme Court. And what if the Court is asked to finally resolve the question of whether the states can make their own marijuana laws? It could easily happen, as there's currently a sort of stalemate between DEA and the jurisdictions where it's legal. That can't last forever.

Do you really think a conservative majority will do anything but re-illegalize your favorite magic dragon?

I'm not big on some of these sites, it's propaganda. CNN has Virginia for Hillary by at least 5%. I'm sure Faux News has Trump up by seven in New York lol

Bernie didn't lose the nomination -- he never had a freaking shot at it. I was once young/gullible and really understand how Sanders' supporters feel. I worked passionately for McGovern because I truly, truly believed he was an honest man -- especially compared to Nixon.

But had I worked for McGovern and found out the nomination was totally rigged for Hubert Humphrey, there's no way I would continue to support the party.

It was rigged for Hillary. She's as popular as most diseases. I'm pretty sure my vote won't be the one sending the state into Trump's column. Sorry, but I can't bring myself into voting for her and yes she is a war hawk. Look at her donors. Look at what she's done as Sec. of State. They're fighting Isis in some countries and funding them in others. It's perpetual war for their donors. I'm not going to be a part of it, I'm not going to support it, and I'm not going to vote in favor of it. I don't want to look at my grandkids and tell them that their father went to war because I voted for it. My hands will be clean...

I have a medical card, I'll never run out of green.

Um, Syria has Isis fighters and the US is arming them. Why? Because the enemy of our enemy is apparently now our friend. It's a known fact that the people in Syria trying to depose Assad had to forge alliances with hardliners and jihadists in order to gain weapons and support. So, let's say they succeed and Assad is gone. Where are the hardliners going to point their weapons at next? Themselves? No they'll be killing the moderates that helped them get rid of Assad.

There are no good outcomes. Putin's allies in Syria are being shot at with American backing. Trump isn't the president.

No, we are not funding or supporting ISIL whatsoever. That is just crazy talk. Assad is a bad guy, and yes, ISIL is against him too--but the US has decided to leave him alone for now to focus on them, because they're worse. We are supporting some rebel groups that are fighting ISIL.

Now we did arm the Taliban in the '80s, but that's another story.
