And to add a little extra, many were in the North and many came through the North. Rhode Island imported multi-1000's (an estimated 106,544).

I’m not sure where that number came from either. While there were 300k enslaved people brought to the US, there were millions who lived as slaves including just under 4 million in the 1860s. Perhaps that’s the cumulative number? Or it could be the number sent to and died in all the Americas including the plantations in the Caribbean?

I'm still waiting to hear as well. That is a number I have never heard before but I guess it is possible. Just curious where the number came from.

What about all the Irish and scots that were shipped off to the new world as slaves? Montserrat had the most Irish/scot slave count, St Kitts too. Boston was rife with Irish slaves. They were bred with Africans to create "mullatos". This would be for easier identification by skin color.
I also thought The US imported only about 4-500,000 Africans compared to places like Brazil, which imported 6 million.

But people from New Jersey fought to rid the country of slavery. Unlike the South, they learned and changed. And they didn't erect countless monuments honoring the immoral Confederacy decades AFTER their treasonous war was lost.

Timing counts for a lot here. Confederate monuments erected well after the loss are appalling and mostly just about hate. There are more ways to communicate southern pride than Confederate flags.
