Or, they live in garages in apartment complexes.

Some of the property management companies fail to do garage checks, to make sure people are parking their cars in their garages, so folks invite their friends over who live in their garages, splitting the rent. Drive up streets in cities where street parking is not banned in multi family residential zones, and you'll see what I mean, such as Lake Forest, San Clemente, and Rancho San Margarita. This wouldn't happen in Irvine and probably not in Aliso Viejo, either.
Probably not coincidentally, Irvine and Aliso Viejo have lower crime scores. Cars parked on streets will get stolen.

You're wrong about most of this. C-D does not seem to have more recent crime scores for Irvine than 2008, but in 2008, Irvine's score was 92--much higher than RSM's 57.

RSM and Aliso Viejo are very close (57 vs 53), despite Aliso Viejo's draconian "cars must be parked in the garage" policy.

Auto thefts in RSM--18 per 100,000, in 2015. In AV, 67 per 100,000 (and 97 per 100,000 in Irvine!).

The only cities in OC that are safer than RSM are AV, marginally, and Laguna Woods (!).

By the way, I used to see people in RSM sharing houses and living in garages back in 2005-06, before the crash. Not so much today.

It was sub 8,000 miles when I bought it. I put 13,000+ miles on it since, and have spent $30,000 in the last year in preventative maintenance (clutch, transmission, etc). So yeah it's not cheap, but it's beautiful. I'm talking Cindy Crawford in her 20s beautiful. It's just as enjoyable as well (I admit I'm imagining how enjoyable a 25 year old Cindy Crawford might have been). It's one of the few wasteful possessions I own in my life.

My wife has a new BMW M6 (by all measures, a much better performing car than my own) that I got her for our anniversary and I can't even drive that car. It's all computer steering, computer camera backing up, computer navigation. It sickens me how computerized and electronic driving has become in this day and age.

There used to be a morning "sports car" event in OC, around the Spectrum. You used to see a lot of fakers there flaunting their cars. I brought my Ferrari 355 there a while ago, totally cherry, and in working condition. Next to me, a young guy parked his 2014 brand new Audi R8. He looked about 10 years younger than me, definitely born in the 80s, not the 70s. I was like, "Nice ride man."

He replies, "It's nice, but the prices on 91 Octane are killing me."

That's how I knew he was part of the $30,000'er club.
This is so very true. A few months back I was at Cars & Coffee in Newport where I parked next to a new GT3 ($150k). I thought "Wow, what a beautiful car, and I bet the owner has great achievements". It was a ~25 year old. I'm also in my 20's and own a P-car so we naturally befriended each other. After a few hours of BSing I put together the pieces that it was a 2500mi/yr lease and he lived with his parents in Laguna. Even if he somehow gathered the full down payment, that's still ~$2k/mo to rent a status symbol.

This is surely a fringe example, but even without it I could provide a dozen examples of young CLA250/3-Series lease'rs in OC. My company (Irvine & DTLA) is full of them.

You can lease a Maserati for a $1,000 a month and a credit score over 600.

Is that where they moved Cars & Coffee now? What part of Newport Beach?

Kinda...it's a largely different crowd. Smaller. Rather than cars and coffee it's called "Cars & Cafe" and is held at Moulin Bistro.

I prefer Supercar Sundays in Woodland hills--although the super exotics don't show up as often, the diverse vehicles and celebrity presence is fun. Actually met Caitlin Jenner there last time around. Quite a car nut.

I know nothing about cars, but there is a Cars & Coffee in Aliso Viejo on Saturday mornings at Town Center.

I have always been incredibly frugal and investment minded. Buying a car that was even remotely in that category was always something I would never do. I broke down a little last year and paid cash for something more extravagant than I have ever done before. I decided life was short and I had worked like a dog. Why the hell not if I am very secure now?

As for the beauty of your car, yes, it cannot be denied. I love the cherry red one from the 90s and especially the convertible. You see them in Dana Point often.

Then again, I love Porsche even more even if it is not as powerful aesthetically. I drew since the time I was a kid. Porsche was always my thing. Ferrari was the exotic that everyone strives for. Porsche was for the guy who just wants the ride - me.

Not in Irvine. I park on the street for years.
