It's not, but it is ridiculous to believe women should be allowed to be nothing but mothers also.

Here's the thing about the Quiverfuls - surely at some point they are going to end up with incest problems - they tend to only marry other quiverfuls and there aren't that many of them, so at what point will they be (possibly unknowingly) marrying their own cousins?

I'm assuming you mean higher order multiples like sextuplets. Because the only thing, IME, that you get with twins is a ten percent sibling discount on your enormous daycare bill.
Which is reasonable since at this point everybody and their cousin's cat is having twins (I think the twin rate is now something like 1:30, as opposed to 30 years ago when it was 1:100), but I just wanted to set the record straight.

This is just awful awful awful! I hope these kids ( as well as the Duggars ) have the opportunity to become whatever they want to be when they get older. They should be able to have choices...not be forced to live how their parents want them to live.

PS: The wife sounds like she's been so brainwashed! It's just awful....OMG.
Interesting blog for anyone who is interested: No Longer Quivering

The question is "why would one assume ALL women should be mothers"? Or "why would one assume ALL that women are supposed to be is mothers"?

And why is this always about mothers? Why aren't people saying all that men should be is daddies?

It's that the girls are being raised to ONLY be mothers and not really given any other options. The boys will most likely be dads, but they'll also work outside the home.

I wonder what would happen if one of the girls turned out to be infertile? Would she just live at home as a spinster babysitting her nieces and nephews, or would she be able to go pursue her own interests?

The older sisters do most of the work, so why not?
