Those coyotes in the LA area are something. You can live smack bang in the hollywood hills right under the sign and still have to keep your cats and small dogs indoors.
We lived in the HH and never let the animals stay outside at night. All of L.A. is vulnerable to the boogers. They use the flood control channels as freeways.

Oooohhhhh... green tea! Think I'll make myself a nice cuppa!

Rub it in! It's 25 degrees here! They're calling for a possible blizzard this weekend!

We were supposed to be 60 today but a little cloud cover prevented that. That being said, we really, really need some moisture. The mountains have been getting it, but we are as dry as a bone.

Heh don't ever move to a New England suburb. We have - red-tailed hawks, turkey vultures, rabbits, chipmonks who nest in gutters and *inside* concrete front stairs, moles who dig miles and miles of tunnels in your yard, deer who destroy whatever part of the garden the rabbits don't get to, bears, and bobcats.

All manner of destructive and/or predatorial animals live in our area. Well the vultures aren't predatorial or destructive, since they only eat carrion. But they're pretty gross.

I have to say, one of the best things about this particular forum is learning about others' areas/weather. And wildlife lol.

I know...I keep saying I need to get out and water my trees...I've hardly had to even wear a coat but a handful of times this year...and it's December! Need snow or rain....anything. On the coyotes....we have to be aware here too. When we first moved here, we used to hear them at night. Haven't heard them in awhile. I'd actually be ok having one "visit" and take care of all the bunnies living under my deck - they are all very cute until they eat your lawn and all that's left is big patches of nothing but rabbit droppings. You do hear about people with small dogs missing from time to time ... and I'm always surprised to find out people let their cats outside. Not a good idea.

mmmm Green Tea....

I like our deck bunnies. We had a coyote come down our street while DH was out shoveling snow last year. I saw a couple outdoor cats when we first moved here (3 yrs ago) but they haven't been around for a while now saw a fox in the back yard last week. Very different than where I moved from.

<Makes note to ship bunnies to rkb....>

I wouldn't mind them if they didn't ruin the lawn and nibble on my hostas in the spring.

In reality, we have a live trap. When we catch one, we "rehome" them to a local trailhead....

I'll send our bunnies too! They drive the dog nuts. That and the squirrels. She did finally catch one (squirrel) a couple months ago.....I guess the word didn't get out in squirrldom though because 4 were in the yard taunting her the other day.
