Being sexually active at 19 in a 2.5 year relationship is really to be expected...I'd say only those with deep religious or other beliefs would remain abstinent in that situation. As long as she's responsible, it's all good.

Having been 19 once myself, it is such a crying shame that so much time, effort and energy is taken out of person's life, for something so incredibly unimportant. How sad that we are so dominated by natures need to perpetuate the species.

I never thought sex was sad or a waste of time, energy and effort. I sure as heck didn't think so at 19. If anything, it has become more important as I've gotten older.

You should be proud of her and yourself. You taught her about birth control and she uses it. She has been in a stable relationship for 2.5 years (which is a big accomplishment). She also trusts you to answer honestly.

I think the majority of 19 year olds are sexually active. I definitely was at 19!

My one male friend who is 20 and still a virgin. He hates it and wants to lose it but he's just not good with girls and is on the heavier side.

I can understand the shock in actually hearing it but when you think about it she is an adult in a steady relationship. Is it so terrible that she is sexually active?

No I was not surprised at all just-I hadn't heard her tell me face to face..
