I really do understand what you are saying about offering encouragement to the OP.
I am completely stunned, though, at the volatile reaction to more conservative beliefs.
Who had a volatile reaction?
I read the thread and all I saw were people who disagreed with you, myself included, just because we do not agree with your perspective does not mean we are volatile. That is sort of weird on your part.
"Adultery is the violation of the marriage covenant by wilful participation in sexual activity with someone other than one's spouse."
Well, exactly, that means someone to whom you are not married. If neither one of you is married, it is still not married, and not your spouse.
Keep reading:
"Since God's law sanctions sexual relationships only within a legitimate marriage, the command not to commit adultery covers in principle all varieties of sexual immorality. No sexual relationship of any sort should occur outside of marriage."

Don't people disagree where you live?
My interpretation.
BTW, your whole "14 and 15 year old get married" argument is pretty volatile IMO. No, I wouldn't think that is OK, and no that is not backpeddling. For one thing, it lacks common sense.
And no, didn't you get the memo? I live in Mayberry. Please read the "Glee" thread.

You are aware that there are non Christians out here right?
Given that in the Book of Ruth, marriage basically amounted to lying with one's former brother-in-law, I don't really have a problem with a nineteen-year-old in a committed relationship with someone she is convinced is her life partner.

Is HE convinced he is the life partner though?
Wow, interesting interpretation of Hebrew law, BTW.
