That's very interesting. I had read that USA was 18. I didn't know the legal age of consent was younger in Ohio, just that 16 is the legal age of consent in randy ole SCOTLAND.

I haven't read anything lately from the op...maybe I missed it?... Don't alert/call woman...go to police see what they say(her back round/record)...then find other information about her... where she works...church she attends...and get an attorney to write a letter to her basically that he/she has been retained by you the parents of blank to have her stop all communications with your son...then wait and watch...just keep all your actions above board...don't contact her or husband on facebook...don't show up at her house...if she contacts you just tell her politely to contact your attorney...

Call the authorities and report her. This is probably not the first time she's done this.

Not wise. Defamation wins are sometimes very large.

See this ABA (American Bar Association) article:

Lawyer Sued for Sexual Harassment Wins $1.55M for Defamation Counterclaim

I think it's strange a 40yo woman would be doing online relationships with teenage boys. Chances are she knows he is a teenager. Would be difficult to hide that for a prolonged period of time. The age difference is going to be an issue. Why wouldn't she be talking to men closer to her age unless something was up.

Definitely contact her and let her know this has to end. Like the reviewer said earlier, nothing good can come of this situation.

Awesome that you are setting limits but still giving your son some latitude and trust.

The woman is the adult, and she is the one who should make sure it doesn't continue. When mom and dad call her and inform her that she is talking to a minor, she should break it off either because she really didn't know he was that young, or at the very least, because it would be stupid of her to continue, knowing that his parents are on to her.

I was thinking that too.

You need to have a talk with this woman, who knows it could end with them meeting each other and statutory rape. You don't want that do you?

And I would be livid if the police did anything in response to something which, however strange and inappropriate, is not illegal. Constitutional rights are important.
