If anything, the catholic church does not treat woman as bad as you probably were made to think. If the church hated women, they would not hold Mary in such high esteem.
I think this shows that Philadelphia is very tolerant of people with different perspectives and believe systems. The Pope would probably be banned from speaking in cities like San Francisco and Seattle.

How should we discuss the visit of the leader of a religion without discussing religion?

First, I should say that not honoring the spirit of a red bold advisory is not recommended.

With that out of the way...it is one thing to discuss how a potential visit by the Pope would affect Philadelphia in general, or Archbishop Chaput and Governor Corbett in particular. It is another to delve into general discussion of religion which can be had on other non-geographic forums here.

So the way SEPTA is going to handle the pope being here is to shut down 90% of it's rail system. The vast majority of stations along the regional rails, BSL, MFL, NHSL will be out of service the weekend of the pope visit.

Why would they choose 52nd st to be the pickup street on the Market Frankford line... so people can see the ghettos of west philly.

Not 30th St???

Maybe 30th St is one of the "Center City" drop-off points being considered?

What they've listed so far are only designated "pick up points" that drop off to center city.
Center city drop off points have not yet been determined, so don't appear as of yet.

Suburban Station is the most likely place for a drop off- it connects directly to the MFL and Broad Street lines. 30th is less likely since it means running down the block and across a busy street to reach the EL, and the BSL doesn't go there at all.

Market east is FAR less likely, given that renovations and improvements to the Gallery will likely not be complete by then.
