Just for clarity.
My post about keeping the mentally ill off the streets, does not preclude any of your ways to address the broader mental health treatment situation.

I think we can all agree that the street is the last place where they belong.

Sister Mary Scullion's approach works because the first thing it does is get a roof over their head. Then it goes about getting them the treatment and services they need. It's easier to deliver them and make sure they get the treatment that way.

Lots of homicides lately... they are now only down 13% from this time last year - and higher than this moment in any year back to '07 excluding 2021 and 2022. Sigh. Until a week ago they were trending downwards big time.

On the bright side, there's only been one homicide this year south of Diamond (excluding West Philly), and 3 total shootings south of Cecil B. Moore.

It is demoralizing and frustrating for sure, but yes, it's almost as though crime is more concentrated now than ever in far West Philly (excluding Overbrook and Wynnefield) and the typically troubled wide swath of North Philly (above Cecil B. Moore, east of Germantown, below Cottman Ave., and west of Frankford Avenue): https://controller.phila.gov/philade...77%2F-75.13339

It makes me wonder if there's even more of a bifurcation in Philadelphia going on than ever before in terms of class division and the "fortunes" of different city neighborhoods. At the very least, it highlights more than ever where the city's violence-fighting resources need to be focused.

There has to be a reckoning from within the communities about the lack of accountability in criminal behavior and dispense with the whitewashing. There are plenty of people outside the afro and latino communities who aren,t rednecks, and who turn the other away because the situation is baffling, I mean, the self destruction is appalling, and it is more damning than the Police vs communities agenda.
I recall a political ad for some pre-K/early level educator running for a state rep seat in Philly. Besides all the ''socialism'' this dude spouted (claimed knowing homelessness first-hand cuz he slept on a friend's couch for a few weeks before he started his school job-didn't want to ask his family to put him up), there was a picture included of little pre-school kids taking a kneeo, heads down, with a raised clenched fist...with their little backpacks on...lol...and I was called out for conspiracy theories about what's going on in classrooms...lol

School is for learning and being disciplined, not being politically indoctrinated. Yet among the many excuses, low rates of black kids transitioning from pre-K followed by overall low test scores going forward coupled with high violent crime rates are blamed on exposure to ''lead''.

Those dismissing education not being a part of the crime problem are part of the crime problem. Responses like not wanting to be a ''fascist'' or ''right wing wackos'' etc in a school of young black philly kids is pretty much the height of narcissism....it ain't about you (teachers) and your political ideologies. Then again, the 40ish and under generation have been raised and taught that everything is about them.

Fortunately, this ''teacher'' was washed out in the primaries but, given the ego, will return.

As far as BLM goes, that manipulation ended on November 7. 2020 when the ''election'' was over and the $90 million white guilt shakedown ''donations'' cleared BLM bank accounts...lol. Poof...BLM gone. We may still see the mostly naive white losers marching around with BLM signs thinking this is still real...lol.

Post-BLM ''movement'' (2020-2/6/23)...Philly's body count to date is at least 1,618. Where is BLM leadership now in Philly or in, most recently, Memphis? Most likely sitting poolside at BLM's $6.5 million Beverly Hills CA mansion headquarters...when they're not at their own multi million dollar homes...lol.

Various:

1) I guess this isn't a "crime" if they were all in on it. And I believe all the girls were white. A friend in Florida sent me video about it.

Did any one hear about the Catholic School students at St Hubert's who allegedly -- although it's on video -- sprayed black spray paint on another student's face -- saying things like "you're a black girl, go to your room, it's February" and -- "you're nothing but a slave and after this you're doing my laundry."

2) I got a DM. and will respond here:
City Data here, and friends and family are where I get most of my news about Phila. I do not watch local news. Sooooo, if I don't discuss a crime here. I likely didn't hear or know about it.

No, I did not hear about a woman beaten up and robbed in Rittenhouse last Sunday ... or an old guy knocked out and robbed near Broad and Vine earlier in the month.

And hearing about incidents like those alleged ones are why I really don't go out much in the city. And when I do my guard is always up. If I didn't have a paid off house in the city I'd be out of here. I won't be able to sell it for enough to buy another house outright. As it is, I do almost nothing in the city proper. 99.9% my errands and life activities are not in this city.

Reminds me of the "knockout game" nonsense that was going on 10 years ago. Of course, Nutter made a statement about that and took it seriously. Maybe I missed it but I haven't heard anything about random attacks from anyone in charge this time, they really don't seem to care.

That said, I still think you are generally safe walking around the city. The chances are incredibly low that anything happens, same as anywhere else. To each their own though.

What happened is disturbing, but it's also stupid to think that is going to happen to you on that block in that neighborhood. The people on r/philadelphia are dumb as bricks and a horrible combination of right and left wing extremists always looking to double down on their own prejudice when given the opportunity. Rite Aids security cameras got a good look at their faces. Let's hope they are made an example of. They deserve it.

It happened in Rittenhouse. Of course they will be made an example of.

My question is.... why are all the video cameras so low quality. It hardly helps at all.

I really hope they catch these monsters. If anything, they need to know there are consequesnses.

Spot on about r/Philadelphia, I let some of the comments on there bother me more than they should. So many people say that everyone is going to leave and how terrible the city is that I start to get depressed about it lol.... even though my experience every day in the city is entirely different than how it's depicted there.

To keep this on topic - yes, I pray they are caught and very publicly made an example of. I'd love a statement from Kenney or someone that this won't be tolerated but I know that's a bit much to ask.
