I think the message has gotten through though which is a good sign. We have a democratic primary where pretty much every candidate is running ads or at least is saying how they will be tough on crime. It’s unthinkable from even two years ago.

Did you go to the 8th District debate? I'm voting for Bass. Seth means well but he's pretty confused on what the city needs to be successful (hint: it's not blocking new housing in the nice parts of the city)

I missed the debate.

I think that Cindy Bass is so corrupt and self-dealing (the GSSD no longer exists because the business owners refused to reauthorize it after they found out that the treasurer chosen by her handpicked board had been pocketing money meant for cleaning the streets; I was glad I didn't attend the town hall at FPCG [which I attend] where residents grilled her on the inexperienced Pittsburgh developer she chose to restore the YWCA, which remains mothballed several years out; she accused her questioners, most of whom were Black, of being anti-Black) that I'm willing to take a flyer on the socialist on the grounds that he can't be more corrupt. I'm not all that uncomfortable with the proposals Seth laid out for ensuring "deeply affordable housing" in the neighborhood, as outlined in my interview with him that ran in The Local.

Is the debate available online?

My concern is that in the process of treating the wound, healthy tissue - innocent citizens of color - will be damaged along the way. I'd like to think that, say, Parker would be more nuanced and sensitive about this than Domb but, from their debate comments at least, it's hard to determine.

Domb’s campaign released a poll. It’s close.

Wow! This is the first poll I've seen. Go Rhynhart. But yes, very close. No surprise seeing Amen Brown so low. His question for Rhynhart was an absolute joke and verifiably false. He is woefully unprepared for the job.

I get mailers constantly from Anderson Oberson and frankly if it weren't your comments, I wouldn't consider voting for him. He seems like someone who will do well in Mt. Airy and Chestnut Hills and get creamed elsewhere.

Meanwhile, this is sort of neat. I say sort of because my top pics were Domb and Gym. That doesn't make sense to me, but whatever. I am still undecided but its between Domb and Rhynhart. She just got Rendell's endorsement BTW. I have zero idea if that carries any water, but he is one of just a few people whose opinion I take into account.

^my problem with that quiz is that it pre-defines the answers too much. Like it’s super subjective statements that don’t necessarily translate to direct policy positions by the candidates.

It’s still an interesting exercise to see what they think on certain things

The Philadelphia mayor's race is a five-way tie, poll shows | The Philadelphia Inquirer

Conducted for the Committee of Seventy by Survey USA

+/-3.8%

Rhynhart 18
Parker 17
Gym 15
Domb 14
Jeff Brown 11

Other three candidates, including Amen Brown, ~2

~20% undecided

The poll also ran a ranked-choice simulation; a little more than half the respondents said they favored adopting it for city elections.

In it, Rhynhart edged out Parker in the final round of tallying.

Interesting comment from polling Twitter post...

According to this poll, Gym has 8 in 10 people against her yet she still has a good chance of winning. At some point those who oppose her have to consolidate around one candidate and she can be easily defeated. If not, we may have a problem.

Also, Rendell endorsed Rhynhart this week, should give her a boost.
