I'm not defending Trump so don't bring him into it. I'm talking about the conversation in this group (and elsewhere) turning this into a political topic is what is causing the problem. It shouldn't be a political topic but as can be seen in this thread and elsewhere it is being treated as one.

The post I quoted about people thinking it is communism and why they won't wear a mask is ridiculous.

I'm more worried about the young people spreading it than I am some older conservatives who don't want to wear a mask when they go to the grocery store.
It's a slippery slope. Going to mandate masks during flu season? How about mandating vaccines? Where does it stop?

Yeah I don't care for that either. I'm not on either side I wish all left and right people could be dropped off at sea and the normal people in the middle could take over.

I don't think the flu is nearly as deadly as this is, and it may not be as communicable, so I wouldn't use that as a good comparison.

And for all intents and purposes, some vaccines are mandatory, are they not? There are few (and fewer) exemptions against getting certain vaccines as a child, right? And if a parent refuses to vaccinate a child, that child may not be allowed to attend public schools or participate in team sports, correct?

I think what upsets a lot of people is one week they're told they can't go to the beach or a park.

Yet, the next week they watch on TV as thousands of people protest in huge gatherings across the country and nobody appears concerned about the virus.

The other day the City of Mesa told residents they need to wear a mask when they leave the house. O.k. I'm 62 years old and wear a mask. I don't need to be told. I'd rather play it safe but still...

Where was all the concern two weeks ago.

And the posts are starting to vanish. Can we just let this conversation be a conversation?

It’s all part of the topic.

Fear. Quit being so scared about being taken advantage of. You’ll wear a mask and be just fine.

There’s always been concern. What are you talking about? Protesters were wearing masks and were outside while exercising their first amendment rights. Masks and being outside make it a minimally risky environment at best. If anyone thinks that’s the cause of the uptick, they’re quite ignorant.

You're only allowed to see one side of the topic. If you have another point of view your posts go away.

Well, when you're yelling at the top of your lungs it sends those droplets much further than 6-feet and in a crowd where most weren't wearing masks, it probably was a significant risk increase. Let's also not forget many of the protestors were scooped up at curfew and loaded into the same vans, holding cells etc and few had masks on that I saw. 21 year olds have always been dumb though.

We saw different coverage of the protests then because I saw nearly 100% mask compliance.

But again, if anyone thinks that’s the cause of the spike and not the morons crowding grocery stores without masks, people shoulder to shoulder at bars and clubs, geezers going about business thinking this is a hoax, etc., then I think you’re missing the big picture. We’re spiking because people aren’t taking proper precautions when going about their daily lives.

I spent some time in San Diego and it’s a different world. Nearly every business requires masks, people are courteous and yield space to one another in stores, even when walking down the sidewalk it seems customary to mask up while passing others. People get it and are respectful of one another. There aren’t a bunch of paranoid freaks that see a mask as a sign of government takeover.
